Commercial e-juice using the cheaper flavorings is a valid observation. I brought up TFA Bavarian Cream only because it is one of the common creams that I have been using that the mix has turned out to be bitter. But as I have mentioned, I have also used this same flavour in mixes that worked out well so not sure if this is the culprit or not. Personally I think it is more than one….just no idea which ones as of yet. And open to the possibility that some are much worse than others.

Just whipped up a 50/50 no nic sample of CAP Vanilla Custard V2 at 5% which is another flavour that is common with my bitter mixes. Slight bitterness but no where near what I experienced. While I was mixing, I also did the back of the hand drip taste sample of FA Catalan Cream, which is one of the creams used in RY4 Delight – extremely peppery. Will have to confirm this with a mix

v2 flavors generally require a longer steep.

There was a time when I was using FA Vienna Cream quite a bit but that has changed. I don’t recall ever getting a peppery taste. What percent are you using this at?

For a long time I thought I had the worst taste buds ever but I see that folks have worse problems than mine. My problems are basically with sweetness,I have never had any flavor taste peppery to me. We all have certain flavors we can't taste or can't vape so that's not exactly a special problem of any one person.

For the RY4 Delight recipe I used the same %’s. FA Catalan Cream 1%, CAP Sweet Cream 2.5% and CAP V Custard V2 at 2%. And TFA RY4 Double at 8%. It’s been steeping for 3 weeks now. I’ve had samples of it and made notes

The OG recipe calls for FW Sweet Cream, but I subbed it with CAP Sweet Cream. That was a purchasing error. .
Haven’t mixed the CAP sweet cream, but a drip taste is sweet.

No, when the nicotine mgs/ml is input into a calculator it will automatically adjust the PG based on the PG/VG ratio of your nic. The flavor percentages do not change.
I understand that. I was just figuring that higher nicotine would affect the flavor, so a recipe created with a low level might taste different from one with a higher level.

In a related question, when mixing sfts, should one include nicotine at one's preferred percentage? I ask because it has a taste of its own, so it seems to me that evaluating a flavor without it wouldn't give an accurate notion of how the flavor will taste in finished recipes.

I also almost completely forgot I have another Chef's order coming.

I was just going to ask you if you got your chefs order yet.

I have to have the nic in mine as juice tastes flat to me without it.

I love apples but have never found an a straight apple recipe that I can stand to take more than a few vapes of. I can add apple for accent but that’s it.

Apple is one of the flavors I can't taste at all.

What is the difference between vanillin and ethyl vanillin?

I've been looking around and the answer I usually find is that ethyl vanillin is about 3x stronger than regular vanillin - just curious if that's the consensus here as well. I want to give a few more vanillas a try, specifically ethyl vanillin and DIYFS Holy Vanilla (some people swear by this, some people say it doesn't live up to the hype, would love to hear opinions on this too).

Also, is there a flavor out there that goes by a different name, but is solely ethyl vanillin or will I have to buy the crystals and dilute myself? If so, is there a recommended dilution ratio?

    Thanks again :)

I've found flavors rarely live up to the hype.

My apologies — for whatever reason I was thinking Vienna Cream when you in fact used Catalan Cream. I used it so long ago that I do not remember it well and probably just in the one recipe. I did look on Reddit and I think you are spot on with words like bitter, spicy.

I used CAP Sweet Cream in only one recipe and pointed out I did not care for the juice in general and Sweet Cream was the odd ball flavor in the recipe for me. @FranC said to swap with Fresh Cream and with that I threw away my CAP Sweet Cream and never looked back.

I gave up on TFA RY4 Double long ago because it fades pretty quickly for me due to the EM but I do not think this is an issue for you. Also has Vanillin which may be an issue for you.

I have used CAP Vanilla Custard v1 and v2 regardless of what the recipe calls for.

Nick Evan has a new recipe that uses Flapper Pie.

    Apple Flapple

Sounds yum, I have to place. BCF order 1st.

It sounds good but I don’t have three of the flavors and I’m pretty sure with three apple flavors in it, I’d take a few puffs and sit it down.
