I used the 100DT method for a long time and didn't pay much attention to exactly how much I ended up with until one day I had several bottles I had mixed and none of them were the same level in the bottle.

But, it doesn't matter if all of your sample bottles end up with the same amount in them. Mine rarely did, because I did more tweaking (ie. adding more drops of flavoring, PG, or VG) to some samples than to others. I also used pipettes for some sample tests and droppers or syringes for other samples. As long as you used a uniform measuring tool (ie. dropper, pipette, etc.) to dispense all the liquids for a specific single sample...that sample is a valid test.

ETA: Forgot this - Because of the above, the bottle size and type, or other container that you use...doesn't matter at all either. I made some of my samples in little vials, some in 5mL LDPE bottles, some in 10mL centrifuge tubes, etc.

On the sft's I check our Redditt and ELR etc for %. If I find nothing I take an educated guess. I let my sft's sit at least 7 days before I start going though them. If there's a lot it takes a few days. When I get done I let them sit another couple weeks before final try. If I have any custards, creams etc I let them sit a bit longer. I would suggest you pick out the first 6 flavors in your case for sft's and then proceed with 5-6 at a time as you feel like it til done. It's a pain but it really is important.
Very useful, and I thank you. Have to confess that I'm still daunted by the prospect of testing 155 flavors, though.

As long as the person doing the test uses several of the same pipettes, or droppers, or syringes, etc. to dispense the ingredients into their sample container...the drops should be close enough to the same for each ingredient in that test. Each would still be 1% of the total.

It doesn't matter if someone else uses pipettes, droppers, syringes, etc. that produce smaller or larger drops than mine do. As long as they use multiples of the same ones they have, for measuring all of the ingredients in their sample...it's OK.

That makes sense. Not sure if that was mentioned in the blog entries – tried reading them but the small italic font was playing tricks on my old and tired eyes.

Just go easy 2-3 at a time will get you there and give you a much better idea of your flavors .Doesn't matter how long it takes. You don't have to feel pressured.

Is INW Shisha Orange as powerful as FA Orange? What I'm reading seems to be saying FA is stronger/more concentrated than other oranges. Would I need to up the percentage of INW to get FA levels of oranginess?
I usually start at the recommended % on ELR. Then adjust from there if needed. Everyone has different tastebuds, so what works for me may be cloying to you

Feeling pressured is a natural part of my work process, unfortunately. I spend a fair while gearing up to doing a thing and the pressure builds till I begin. When I'm on the cusp of getting started, I feel overwhelmed but then quickly relax once I get going. It's an annoying cycle, but mine own.

    Somewhere between here and there
I've got several extras of the rta that I mostly use so I should get two or three extras cleaned and wicked so I can start doing some sft. I think it would go better if I could do a few at a time instead of one and then need to clean and rewick before the next.

I got 10 mixed today but didn't do much else lol.

Only thing I mixed so far was laundry detergent :(. Did wash 1 bottle and have a late morning nap with the cat curled up beside me. Cat naps are the best!!

Plan to tackle some mixes later and hopefully source out the pepper problem.

I really don't like doing sft's on Creams but still do most. Trying the Ha Cream. What can I say about a cream? I'm not very good at descriptions . I like it. It's a good cream that I can see myself using often. The Hangsen Ice Cream will be up next.

Managed to make a decent (at least to me) Blueberry, Apple, and Pear juice. Used FW Blueberry 2.5%, FA Pear 1%, FA Fuji Apple 1%, and FA Fresh Cream 1%.

Tasted pretty good as a shake and vape, going to let it steep a bit and see how it turns out. Tried it with TFA Pomegranate, but ended up tasting like perfume ..

Has anyone tried this: The Trinity Vanilla Ice Cream ? Looks good, there was only a few reviews though.

IMO, doing a sft on each individual flavoring or not, is another personal choice with DIY...like measuring by volume or by weight, using freebase nic or salt nic, using plastic or glass bottles for your eliquids, what devices are used for taste testing them, etc. As long as the same end goal is reached (great tasting DIY), it's all good.

I have found that when I want to evaluate creams, it is easier (for me) to test them in a mix. If I want to try three creams, I mix up a recipe that needs cream, leaving out the cream. I divide the mix into three testers, add a different cream into each, then test how the cream affected the recipe. That might not work for everyone, but it does work for me. Below is an example.

    FLAVOUR ART
    • Fresh Cream
Tested at 1% in a Raspberry Sherbet mix to compare with other creams. In the mix, it is very smooth and moderately light on the tongue. I used it here as an accent. A single flavor test should probably be at 2%. If it were used as a base, it would be heavier and more dense, like half and half. This is a very useful cream. This is just plain, fresh, light cream - no sweetener and no vanilla. Use 0.5% to add creamier, smoother flavor to a recipe. Use up to 2% in a recipe for milky flavor.

    FLAVORAH
    • Cream

Tested at 1% in a Raspberry Sherbet mix. This is sweeter to me than VTA Sweet Cream. It isn't sweet but is a bit sweeter than expected. It is creamy but contains diacetyl and acetoin. It is a nice cream flavor with a good mouth feel, but not as dense as VTA's Sweet Cream. It is versatile and should blend well with whatever you put cream in. Some say that they pick up some spice at higher percentages. At 1%, it is just cream. It is a bit weak for a FLV flavor but still should do the trick at 1%. If you are looking for a dense mouth feel and a lot of body, VTA Sweet Cream is the winner. If you are looking for a sub for FA Fresh Cream, the FLV Cream should work well.

    • Sweet Cream

Tested at 1% in a Raspberry Sherbet mix. The difference between this and the FA Fresh Cream was immediately noticeable. It is much fuller with a denser mouth feel, almost like a whipped cream. The sweetness is very, very light – just a kiss. It gave the mix a fuller, denser mouth feel. I would use it in a mix at 1 to 1.5% based on this test. At that %, it gives a rich, full mouth feel. I don't pick up any vanilla or off notes at all. Pure, rich cream and nothing else. Depending on what this is used in, it could be used up to 5% and as low as 1%. This would be useful to add a thick mouthfeel at lower %’s.

You are certainly better at reviews than I am. Thank you for your thoughts on the creams.:)

Trying the Ha Ice Cream. It's quite tasty and not sweet. I can't say it tastes like ice cream but I think that would be difficult to do.Ice Cream is cold....LOL. It is a nice smooth cream. I like this also. Ha Vanilla Ice Cream is up next and that's it for today.I'll have 2 more to try tomorrow.

    I'm confused. :?:
My post was to rosesense. Your username was just included in her post, so it "went along for the ride" when I hit Reply. :)

I thought she might be interested, too, (like I was), in how "phenolic" (in TFA's Vanillin description) might be related to the "musty" description you'd mentioned...especially since she said "AHA", that was it...the word she couldn't think of to describe the taste she doesn't like.
Its all good. I thought you were saying "I already said that" and I hadnt read back that far. My fault for not keeping up.
