Best description you can and we can take a crack at it
I appreciate you offering assistance!

The commercial e-liquid was a B&M house creation. They were the only shop in town that sold DIY supplies; and they only offered TFA, and a small selection of LA. I think these were also the only flavor manufacturers they used making their house blends. It has been 6(ish) years since I had any so I am not sure my memory can do it justice. But, I'll give it a shot.

The overall profile was mostly kinda sorta (wishy-washy enough for ya yet? ;)) like a mild wintergreen Certs or Lifesaver. Mostly wintergreen and cooling with a light sweet note. Mouthfeel was not heavy; but I would not describe it as thin (or dying) either. I always wished for a bit bolder flavor. However, I liked it well enough, that is was my only e-liquid for nearly two years.

-- The dominant flavor was wintergreen (TFA (water soluble), and LA on the sales rack). I did find a small amount of peppermint, could help to bolster the always seemingly weak wintergreen, without contributing an overt/identifiable flavor of its own.
-- There was also a fair amount of cooling, but it did not have much (if any) menthol to it. They did sell Koolada at the time, and I suspect it was that, with maybe a backup note of menthol. Though, now that I have WS-23 in my arsenal, I would consider that too.

The rest is the mystery that I can't figure out. I experimented with various ratios of wintergreen (both of them; separately, and combined), mixed with both koolada, and menthol (again; separately, and combined). And even a few variations including a bit of sweetener (TFA Sweetener, as well as TFA Cotton Candy/EM). These efforts could get me in the general vicinity... but, not in even the ball park.

I tried a touch of a couple of vanillas, and that seemed to move the needle in the right direction; but I couldn't find a concentrate or percentage, that it didn't become too prevalent. I tried a couple of different creams, and those either did nothing, or sent the overall profile in the wrong direction (it was during these trials that I learned I loath TFA Bavarian Cream).

The sweet was problematic for me too. It had an odd, almost "artificial" sweetness to it; that wasn't syrupy, or outright candy-like. Instead, it mimicked the "dentist-friendly" artificial sweetener of the day... like an almost (not quite) chalky quality. Just like a Certs/Lifesaver.

It seems like it should be a simple recipe. But, apparently, it's not... or I am not letting it be.

I know cloning is a bear, and it is often easier to aim for "similar." Truthfully; an authentic, bold, wintergreen Certs, is probably all I am looking for at this point. :)

@Fidola13 Got my first batch of that bourbon custard in bottles and steeping last night. Going to try it tonight for initial impressions then probably let it steep longer.

Also wrote down my first recipe, now I just have to order the flavorings to see if it's any good. Come on Memorial Day sales....

What tends to add some creamy sweetness while letting the fruit flavor shine and not be muted in y'alls experience? Sweet cream or Marshmallow? Working on a blueberry cream recipe. Also doing one I call Huckleberry Haze that uses both but for the blueberry I want to use one or the other.

That’s great! I really enjoy that Kentucky bourbon which kinda surprises me but it’s very yummy.

What recipe did you use? Mines all gone and need to mix more up.

I make one I call “mint pillow” because it reminds me of those little soft mint squares restaurants used to have. It’s mixed mint and marshmallow (sil’s fav, had me bring him a bottle when we went up for graduation). Maybe try a tad white chocolate too in a second tester ( child #1’s fav).

@ShadavI don't know if you have a harbor Freight near you; but they are another good cheap source for DIY tools. I have bought both:
16pc. screwdriver set ($4)
and
32pc. screwdriver set ($7)
and they work great! :)

Harbor is also a great place to find small pliers, cutters, and the like. :D

Thank you. Believe it or not I have never been in a Harbor Freight — not the type of store I normally shop in  However I will be in the general vicinity so have two opportunities. Suppose to meet a friend for lunch today although it may get postponed. It is raining and she uses a walker. Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment so if I do not make it today it may be tomorrow. There is a World Market across the street which I have not been to in quite sometime — good excuse to go ;)

Are you using just mint and marshmallow and if so, at what percent? I tried several attempts mixing something like this last year and none of them were good.

You’ll probably like harbor freight... it’s like dollar tree and world market had a tool store baby. I always go with Himself because they have all sorts of goodies they think ;) are tool related, but I can use for other purposes.

I can’t find my notes atm, but I went high on the mixed mint and suggested on the marshmallow. When I lay my hands on it, I’ll post.

I’ve gone through everything and can’t find it. There’s one on ELR called “peppermint pillow”,it also has cream. Maybe give that a tester. I’m a bit miffed atm, I was sure I put it in “my recipes” for v1. Ugh. Back to paper copy first!

Am I right or wrong thinking that I should be having higher %s of flavor in my recipes (due to making my juices out to 50mg/ml)?
I believe I read somewhere that lots of nic will mute flavoring(s).
I don’t think you have to up the %. You’re mixing at 50mg?

    Somewhere between here and there
I haven't used much nic salt but when I did, I didn't change my mixing percentages. However, I don't think I mixed it that high.

I think I'm done buying pods for my orion dna and two quests. I feel like if I'm going to pay about $4 for a pod that it should last more than a couple weeks. I can build a coil on an rta for pennies and it lasts longer than two weeks of intermittent use. I'm going to pack them up and just use them for when I need a small stealth vape for traveling or something.
