Red, my avi cat, used to stand on my chest in the AM to get me up. Oddly, he did figure out weekends, but it took him almost a year after I retired before he figured out that they were all weekends!
Mine strategically jumps on a full morning bladder. Cats are very familiar with the human anatomy, as they would be given cats know everything. Or she would gently tickle under my nose with her paw. Failing that, she would also go into the ba
throom and rattle the mirror. I know there is no risk of the mirror breaking, but this would get me out of bed every time!
She just turned 40 (cat years), and now has resorted to curling up beside my head, greeting me with a good morning chirp when I open my eyes. I like to think this is a sign of compassion, but I suspect there is a much larger objective behind her methods.
