Seems that the biggest killer of these machines is lime build-up so I'm going to use jugs of bottled water in it.
We have very hard water so I also buy bottled water for the coffee maker. It almost killed me one day I ran out and had to use tap water (it also has chlorine... yuck)

No where near as expensive as the machine DL bought but my cuisanart maker uses a replaceable water filter and has a built in grinder that dumps the grounds right into the basket after it grinds the beans. However, it’s just a coffee maker and not an espresso machine. It sure has lasted a long time compared to other ones I’ve bought.

I realized you were after I wrote the post but was too lazy to edit it. I'm glad you're still interested in checking out pawpaws. I would love to hear what they're like.

I am so looking forward to trying it. I'm going to look into when it's in season. Those particular fruit notes in it's flavor profile are some of my favorites. On the outside it reminds me a lot of how guava looks. My wife just got back from her girls trip and I was telling her about it.

Damn, that's nice. Does the filter take chlorine out? I use a Bunn coffee maker but the one you have may cause me to switch.

I’m not sure if it takes all chlorine out. It has this holder for the filter that slides down where you put the water in and sits in front of the opening where the water goes into the machine. I’ll do a little digging and see if I can find out for sure. It came with one but I buy replacement filters on Amazon.

It says they remove impurities, chlorine, and calcium. It’s a charcoal filter.

I use tap water in my Ninja Hot and Cold Bar which does not have a grinder and I use already ground coffee (Yuban) in it. Haven't had a problem but with this new one I'm switching to bottled as I'm guessing it has less impurities than tap water. Online in reviews people say this espresso machine will last 7-10 years with some maintenance so I want to take care of it. We already buy lots of bottled water as the wife uses it for her coffee which is just a Mr. Coffee machine.

You might look at Zero Water. I started with a pitcher and then went to the bigger unit that sits on the kitchen counter. The filters are expensive but for me they last about 3+ months with tap water which test at about 190 ppm. I use it for coffee, plants, drinking. Anything I feel that tap water will change the taste of something. I've had the coffee machine for about 1 year and no lime or calcium at all. The only down side is you water has no taste...Some do not like it for that reason.

I run tap water through a Multipure water filter. After passing through the pre-filter, water passes through the solid carbon block, where particles as small as 0.5 microns are physically trapped by the filter. I've had mine since 1994. It's the best water I've ever had. I fill the cat and dog water bowls with it too. This is the newer version Under Sink Water Filter - Aquaversa | Multipure . They have other options. The Performance Data PDF on that page tells you all the crap that's filtered out.

Thanks man. I like that it has the grinder built in. Wife and I grind our beans as well, so having it attached would be very convenient

It’s just a single serve grinder and has to be cleaned each time. I still grind beans for the work week since I don’t want to clean it during the work week. I used to but got lazy. Now I just use the built in grinder during the weekend.

I’ve been doing more of the puzzle and some chores. Making a roast for dinner.

Not sure why I do this but I have a bin of keepsakes for each of us. They were overflowing so I bought two bigger ones. Certificates, degrees, awards, newspaper articles when son made the honor roll, family stuff, meaningful cards, son’s school drawings from art class (I framed some years ago and hung them up), notes he wrote me as a child, etc. I’m no hoarder, but when it comes to sentimental things I’m a sucker (and I’m careful so I don’t keep everything).

I’m really sort of a minimalist, but my son’s stuff just gets me. I ask myself why I keep it, but every time I go through it I realize it just makes me laugh and cry and lots of emotions. So I guess that’s why I keep it. The only thing left I need to do is organize all my pictures. For another day.

I think we might have the same one - mine can also be preset to brew coffee . . . AND - As for water, beside the Caisanart water filter - I have a "homemade" water filter attached to the kitchen sink next to the faucet, so I fill the crafe with that before setting up the coffee maker to have it ready first thing in the AM . . . :D

Most likely. I can preset mine to.

The only issue is with the wife. When I pull the unit across the counter it sounds like someone scraping their finger nails across a black board.
I guess you could place a teflon sheet or something under it, but what would be the fun in that !

I’m going back to the drawing board with the Macadamian Nut. Too fruity and I didn’t care for the taste, also not nutty enough so I’ll fix that with my next mix. I’m about to pick something well steeped to try.
