Cats
About 3 years ago I was just about to back out of the driveway to go to work. I kept hearing a cat meow. I got out of the car and started looking around our front yard. There was this little guy sitting under the palm tree. He wasn't a kitten, but definitely didn't look to be an adult cat either.
I went back inside and opened a can of tuna fish and brought it back outside. The cat came limping over to me, his back leg appeared to be broken. Even with that, he came over to me and rubbed up against my leg and did this odd, flip over thing and landed between my feet, looking up at me while on his back like he wanted me to rub his stomach. He ate and I went to work. When my wife came home I told her about the cool little cat I saw that morning. She went outside to see if she could find him, and of course she did, she adores cats.
He came limping up to her, and did the little rub and flip over thing and my wife fell immediately in love. I wish I had known I could have got her that way... She called out the next morning and took the cat to the vet. The vet said the cat was a full grown Tom cat (he was wrong)... the leg wasn't broken however, it was filled with infection.
We got him fixed along with some oral medication we had to give him for the infection. In one day we spent $400 on a cat we found in our front yard. One of our neighbors ended up telling us they saw a car drive down our cul de sac and toss the cat out of their car the night before we found him.
Our youngest daughter named him Poofie Bear, and no matter what he's doing-- he always comes running when you call him. As I previously mentioned, he wasn't full grown-- he more than tripled in size and yes, he still does the flip over thing every time he comes to us.
Poofie Bear--
As you can probably tell, my wife loves this cat a lot. Eh, we all do--he's a cool little guy.
