I got the Arbiter 2 for review finally. It was supposed to be here weeks ago but got sent to the wrong address. I’m looking forward to trying it. I have it soaking right now to make sure it’s clean.

Dd has all the time internet to her phone. She’s suggested that I get a phone and data plan at the local phone store. I’m thinking this is cheaper on Amazon. Thoughts?

That, and what type of phone you "need". I mean, the more modern, the faster/better.
I have a "cheap" phone that cost me maybe 120 bucks from my internet provider (Comcost) ( )
It's a Moto e 2020. Pretty low end, but all I need right now. I'll upgrade later if the need arises. It's enough to do basic things, has expansion slot for memory, and if I need to call 911 or text, I can.

These days people frigg'n EXPECT you to have one of those damn things.
I say that as I'm typing on my DESKTOP using a REAL KEYBOARD. And the computer didn't "bleep" once, and I've read 10's of messages.

The thing with the moto e 2020 is that it may not be upgraded to Android 11. At least not by Comcost. But it was a good deal at that price. Needs a real gyroscope. Has decent cameras and a fingerprint reader for easy access.

I am in need of a phone and know little about them. I do have one I got from Tracfone 2 years ago that's supposed to have an internet plan but it's never worked if I leave the house. So when I do get another phone I will no doubt use it when out and about but I'll never be a heavy user like most folks are. I'm thinking of just getting a decent phone and data plan from Amazon. Maybe.

Walmart has cell phones. They cover the major plans, including pay as you go. You could pay and have it activated all at once. Or, Best buy if there’s one close by

My parents love their simple jitterbug phones and they are very inexpensive. We upgraded Dad’s to the smart jitterbug and he hated it so we switched him back. One day he accidentally .... dialed the emergency services. The fire department who he is friends with (and I have a cousin that works there) rushed to his house. They found one window unlocked in their utility room, climbed in over the kitchen sink to find no one was home. My Mother was mortified and Dad was dumbfounded.

I went to Walmart for my tree topper and ended up getting all kinds of things. Three gifts for my niece for my parents to gift her. Gift card boxes for Mom. Food. Time for the tree! Ugh!

The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X hit the market in 1983 and weighed in at 2 pounds. It was priced at $3,995 and offered a half-hour of talk time per battery charge.

I remember beepers. I remember an ex would send a page with 143 (I love you) and if I didn't respond back the next beep was her number with 911. Fun times, sorta.

On purpose I only turned half my clocks back in Nov 2018. 1/2 are an hour ahead and the other half behind an hour. They've been that way ever since.

Keeps me on my toes!

Gosh, how I hated that thing. Backpack, phone and charger weighed 35 pounds and could only get service for a few miles and it started roaming. I had to have it for a crisis line at work. It always rang when I was in the checkout line at a grocery store. Folks got upset that I had to stop to answer the call, looked at me like I was an alien. I never saw anyone else with them at that time.

64 here. I took both dogs outside for quite a while when my wife and daughter went shopping.
