I placed 17th out of almost 300 racers in the 250 A class, which is one level before pro. It was 2 qualifiers, 4 heat races, 2 semi races before you can make it to the main event. The main event is the top 40 and I placed 17th.

I could win every local race, but when I went national it was tough. I've been to Ponca City, Oklahoma (a major national amateur event); Loretta Lynn's Amateur National in Tennessee, both of which are stepping stones to getting to the next level and I just could not turn that corner.

My only claim to fame in the sport was when sponsored pros showed up at my local track-- Kenny Keylon (team Honda) and Mark Murphy (team Yamaha) couldn't touch me. At 19 years old I'd come home every Saturday night with up to 2k in my pocket.

Once I reached 27 years of age I got tired of limping at work and chasing a dream. I had been racing since I was 5 years old at that point and the injuries were adding up.

I haven't touched a bike in almost 23 years. I wish I had introduced the sport to my girls though. My youngest has this certain aggression that reminds me so much of myself... She'd be a beast.:(
I bet your daughter would love it.
I started my enthusiasm in regards to motorcycles with my first and only purchase of a Yamaha virago 535 (I'm short).I was 40 when I first started. My husband took a motorcycle safety coarse with me (he's been driving since 16) and I was in love with it. Less than 5 years I started getting pain(at that time I didn't know it was the autoimmune disease) and basically had to give it up. I gave it to the hubs and its the third bike we own. Someday, I should start driving his trike (Honda gold-wing) and zoom around. I can't get into too much trouble.

I'm amazed you haven't touched driving but do understand. Some days I really want to do it again but don't.

Everyone sleeping in? Looks like we’ll be leaving in a few minutes.

Our dog woke me twice to go out way too early. I’m not a happy camper this morning. My daughters boyfriend is coming later for a few hours. Not really excited about meeting the new boyfriend but will try to be courteous. As usual coffee first then I’ve got a few tanks to clean out and maybe open the Orion review samples.

Since it is your first meeting with the boyfriend - make sure you don't get carried away and start cleaning his tank out . . . Just Sayin' . . .

    Morning, mixers.

Looks like transplanting a couple rose bushes, then the game :)

I enjoy watching halfpipe snowboarding. But I couldn't tell you the difference between a McTwist 720, corkside 1080, double cork 1490, switch backside, 1620, Cab 720, Double McTwist 1260 or a frontside 540/720.

Aren't they all on the McDonald's kids' menu?

Reminds me of one of my proudest Dad moments. My oldest daughter & her boyfriend were sitting by themselves on our couch, watching a movie. They were just sitting, holding hands. I quietly stuck my head in the living room and gave it my best Clint Eastwood voice. 'Oh great. Molest my daughter on my own couch, why dontcha?' His eyes got as big as saucers. My daughter rolled her eyes and gave me the 'Daaaaad, stop it!'.

20 years later, they've been married 10 years, love each other dearly, and make a great team. We still laugh about that couch moment. He says he almost ran out the front door, in his socks, in the snow, to make his escape.

I tell him, just doin' my Dad job. Had to see what you were made of.

    Need pics.

I don’t know that I feel like messing with them today but here’s the wood grain one. They also sent a carbon fiber one.
