I got to rant somewhere and I don't have any other place to rant. Feel free to scroll on down.

On Wed I went to a town meeting about our new levee. Work has just started but supply chain problems caused the price to escalate. To compensate they changed the plan and a dozen houses along the levee will have to be demolished. There are only 300 houses in the town, mostly small old houses. The ones that have to go are all big mansions built recently by millionaires who bribed the city to let them build their houses on top of the old levee so they would have nice views of the river. The original plan required using super expensive technology to swing the levee out behind their houses. Poetic justice in a way. Now they will use their money and influence and lawyers to try and stop the levee project. They won't succeed because by law the town gets to vote yea or nay on the new plan but it will delay the work by a couple of years. The engineers reckoned there was a 50% chance of the old levee failing within the next ten years.

Another meeting yesterday to hear about our conversion from septic to sewer. Not happy. The regs don't allow the old style gravity sewers. The city does the installation for free except for a $3000 connection fee. You have a large grinder buried in your yard which grinds the waste then pumps it up to the sewer line. That means the grinder is mine and I have to pay to maintain it and replace it if it breaks down. $3000 for a new grinder. Around $500 for a service visit if it gets clogged because there's only one company licensed to work on them. And it doesn't run if the power goes out so I have to buy a generator.

I hate politicians, bureaucrats, and rich people, but mostly rich people.

Oh man, I'd be P. O. 'd too. Before I was transferred to installing irrigation systems for grow farms, I handled my fair share of macerator pumps. If it's just you and your wife you it could last years.. It's the blades that wear out over time; baby wipes, toilet paper, etc. can maximize wear. Also tossing some lime descaler in the toilet (if you have the ability to turn the mascerator off) and letting it sit for a couple of hours in the mascerator without flushing the toilet during this time can maximize the life of it. I'd do that every 4 months.

I've seen them last up to 15 years with proper preventive care... Keeping any lime scale build up from happening is essential.

Good morning everyone!

Now that is really cool. I have never ridden a street bike. Was the pain caused from the shaking of your internal organs? I know with motocross we had to wear kidney belts to hold everything in place.

My wifey came home last night. She drove straight through from Denver. What a beast.
Good morning in here!
No I was having pain that would shift. Didn't know at the time it was related to my disease process. I think I can handle driving a 3 wheel trike motorcycle. It doesn't involve strength.

Don't forget to buy a ton of flowers and candies for the wifie!
I stopped accepting gifts from hubs 20 years ago. I told him buy me a pack of flower seeds if you want to.

You should try driving the trike. You might like it.

I liked both of younger daughters husbands as friends but I didn’t want my daughter marrying either one. I was right and they both ended in divorce. I didn’t have an opinion on currant husband #3 because I didn’t know him at all. He’s a nice enough guy but not sure the marriage is the best. I could be wrong.

I am still very close with my ex's mother & sister; the ex and I have been divorced almost 30 years.

My oldest daughter dates some bad dudes. About 5 to 7 years ago she was dating the cornerback for the Buccaneers and he was such a (insert derogatory remark). She'd tell me things and I would ask her, "when he told you that did a little light bulb go off in your head?", "maybe I shouldn't be with this guy?". Her mother loved it, which doesn't surprise me at all. That's why we're not together.

Appreciate the tips. We have very hard water here so that one could be a lifesaver. We can turn it off, it will be on a 30 amp breaker.

One of the questions I asked at the meeting was how long we should expect them to last, nobody knew the answer.

I have the right to decline the new system and keep the septic tank. But they passed a rule saying that once you have been offered the new system they treat your septic as a new installation and you have apply for a permit, which since we are in a flood zone would be automatically rejected. Rights are great, aren't they?

I appreciate the information. I’ve not heard of switching the channel. Is that done by logging into the router?
Before you look at switching channels of your WiFi, you may want to check using something like "inSSIDer". If you have a laptop w/WiFi, you can run "inSSIDer" to see what your signal strength is, channels that may be used the most, interference from other WiFi's within your area. It would also help with changing the routers WiFi location to see if it improves your signal.

The boyfriend is on the way. Now where did I put that knife sharpener?

A guy a worked with, years back, always made his daughters bring new potential beaus in for an introductory visit. And cleaned firearms during said visit. His daughters were treated properly ;)

Good point, @Seiggy . And there are apps to do the same for Android phones, and, I presume :)eek:) Apple phones as well.

I have a feeling Hittman is involved right now.

Throwing in a little head twitch, and talking about his time in the military will help as well.
