TC is more particular with getting it setup properly. Once setup the TC settings don't need to be messed with. On my DNA and Arctic Fox mods I set 6 of the 8 profiles for different vaping styles with TC and for specific RBA's (wattages, temps, boost) and left a couple set for simple wattage modes.
I use a Coil Master v3 coiling kit for winding coils. After a coil is tightly wound I hold one wire end firmly in place and then carefully pull the other wire end on the rod to space the coil. Then I compress the wire back against the jig and I have a perfectly spaced coil each time. It did take me a bit to learn how to make them so the spacing was closer together. YT videos on making spaced coils with and without a Coil Master tool.
You could also try winding your coil tight, then holding the wire on one side firmly in place on the rod and then carefully pull on the other end. That will create a spaced coil. Then compress the coil to get the spacing closer together.
