@ShowMeTwice Didn’t you say a couple days ago that you had another recipe to post?
Patience Woman, patience. Here it is...

Cali Shake

CAP Milkshake 2.5%
WF Vanilla Ice Cream 1%
SSA Grapefruit 1%
WF Kiwi (Yellow) 1.3%
WF Watermelon (Yellow) 2%
SSA Ripe Coconut 0.7%

Ok SMT... what da ferk is a Cali Shake??? The last several times I was out in lovely southern California I always went to this cool little place that served the most delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes, juices, smoothies and shakes. Their Cali Shake is pure awesomeness. It's a seriously tasty tropical milkshake. Up north we make our own version of it. It is a family fav of ours.

This is my DIY take on the Cali Shake. And this is my 6th version. It took me quite some time to get each flavor where it made the most sense 'taste-wise' within the mix. I am very pleased with the results.

CAP Milkshake is a total winner when looking to whip up a shake. IMHO it needs some help in order to fill out the milkshake profile. That's where WF Vanilla Ice Cream comes in. Together they make a wonderful milkshake base.

The combination of fruits work well together. Grapefruit and kiwi are the stars here. They make their presence known but are not 'in your face'. They are nicely layered within the overall profile. The watermelon won't be tasted as much as experienced with its light melon vibe that lays well back in the mix. Coconut is here to help the milkshake profile with some added creaminess. I was going to include my notes on each fruit but that would make an already long post even longer.

Coconut will not be tasted because, ummm, the low percent. There is a very noticeable difference without it in the mix. It was the missing ingredient that pulled everything together. My youngest daughter suggested the coconut. She is getting good with DIY.

The only flavor that can be 'safely' subbed, with total confidence, is WF Vanilla Ice Cream. VTA Vanilla Ice Cream or SSA Ice Cream Vanilla will work 1:1. Subbing any of the other flavors will kill the balance and create something entirely different.

I tested this off the mix, after 3 days and a week and found it to be very vapeable, tasty and smooth. However, it is vastly superior with a 3-4 week steep.

Sweetness sits at about the mid-point. Overall it is a very refreshingly smooth and tasty vape with zero rough edges. It's nicely balanced.

@Zazie can you please add this to your blog? Thank you.

If I remember correctly, SMT said it needed a bit of a steep.
It is good off the mix, but yes, it does gel better with a steep. 3-4 weeks or you may like it sooner. Depends on your sense of taste really. Try it after you mix it and see what you think.

I don’t have half of those flavors so won’t even try to mix it.

It might steep until the weekend. I’ve been wanting a fruit vape so got brave and mixed 30ml. I’ve been pretty heavy on bakery stuff and the NET mix I posted. It’s definitely better after a month.

I'm still up, the pup is being a real pill in that she won't have anything to do with me. SO, she's sleeping in a crate in the wife's room and the deal was that I take care of it since it was to be my dog. Weird. I am waiting up for it to need to go out to spare the wife doing it, and I'll stay up a while to see what happens. I wonder if some guy abused her or something because she runs from me and follows the wife like a shadow.

Yes I'm going to try it with rotisserie chicken that my wife buys. Hope it works, somethings got to.
That's a great start DL. Have you tried engaging her by getting down to her level on the floor? Sit on the floor when you offer her some chicken. If she doesn't come to you don't be alarmed.

Instead try this, place a trail of small pieces of chicken leading from wherever she likes to hang out to you sitting on the floor. Try that from a few feet away to start and build distance with each success. With each success praise her in a higher pitched voice. Tell her to 'come' as you hold out a piece of chicken in your hand, but not in a loud and boisterous manner as she may be fearful of you.

Try speaking to her in a higher happy pitched voice. All dogs, just like kids, love that.

She is still quite young, and at 3, can be worked with and trained. This is going to require patience on your part.

What kinds of toys does she like? Get some dog toys and engage with her.

She isn't going to wake up one day and be your best friend until you take a very active, and lead, role in her daily life. You need to demonstrate to her your ability to love and accept her into your family 'pack'. Canines are pack animals. She is currently learning the structure of 'your' pack. This can take time.

Does she know how to walk on a leash? If so, take her for walks a couple times each day. Start with short ones. Going for walks is an excellent bonding experience. You learn to trust each other with every step. Go very early in the mornings, and seeing as you are up then, that would be a great time considering LV's super hot weather.

I wonder if some guy abused her or something because she runs from me and follows the wife like a shadow.
If that was the case then you have your work cut out for you. Alternatively, she may have never lived in a household where there were men or where there were men of your stature.

The folks you got her from should have told you guys as much as they knew about her previous life and the people in it. They should have communicated her level of training and what kinds of toys she like to play with.

When you and your wife went to meet her did she readily come to you and with tail wagging?

How did she initially respond to you when you first met her? That there... tells a story.

Does she wag her tail at all? Or does she carry it between her legs. If the latter, then that is body language that shows fear on her part.

How has she taken to your other dog? If your wife is the 'main' caregiver with your other dog then the new dog will have immediately picked up on this from the get go.

Who feeds your dogs? If you do not then you, and you alone, will need to start doing this so your new dog clearly understands that you are her provider. After all, she is supposed to be your dog.

Please bear in mind, this is a brand new environment and a scary experience for her. She needs time to 'learn' you and acclimate to her new surroundings. Just like you need time to learn all about her.

It is your job to help her experience success at all levels. Likewise, it is your job to help her gain confidence in you and her new surroundings.

The more time you are willing to invest in her life the greater success both of you will have.

    You can do this !!!

I'm only trying to be helpful DL. Tell me to bugger off if what I've said isn't to your liking. You won't upset me at all.

Well, she's a rescue and was with a foster "Mom". She was nervous when we met but didn't growl or anything when I picked her up.

I can't get on the floor, well I can but I couldn't get up. :D

I don't know if she's been on a leash but we have a harness and leash coming and I'll try it.

I plan on investing a lot of time, starting today. I've been kind of helplessly watching what happens but that stops now.

I thank you for the tips, I know you know your dogs.
