My life as a squonker got off to a brutal start, after a bit of back and forth it worked fine in TC, 304L Ion Wire, on to the next atty with the same wire, worked fine for 20 minutes or so.
And after that it goes into short protection in TC regardless of reset, various attys.
Works perfectly in the watt setting.

It seems there was a reason they let it through customs.
Tor, what gauge SS304L are you using and what ohms is your coil? If your wire is too thin then I would expect TC Protection to occur fairly quickly.

I don't run anything thinner than 26g or the occasional 27g when running TC. I have a couple rda's, the Despot and FLVR, that perform best with simple round SS316L. I run various claptons or aliens in my other rda's with TC, all SS316L.

What squonk mod are you using? What wattage did you set under TC?

What setting did you select for 304L on your mod? Many mods do not have a TC setting for 304.

Or, did you manually set a TCR for your SS304L? If so, what TCR did you set?

The TCR for SS304L is 102 according to Steam Engine and 105 per DJLsb Vapes and other sources.

If you haven't already, set the TCR to 105. By far, I trust DJLsb Vapes and other sources over Steam Engine. Daniel (DJLsb Vapes) has done extensive testing with TC and on many mods.

Try 105. If you are still getting near immediate Protection (and a lousy hit) incrementally increase the TCR (within reason) until you are satisfied. TCR numbers are, IMHO, suggestions. In the end the setting is up to the end user.

The chipset is Omega Vaper Nucleo.
The error message I get is short out protection in TC.
Wasn't like this for the first 20 minutes of the mod's life.

I use 28ga InoWire 304L, put the mod in 304 as well, then one try with TCR value 105. Atty's Antiquity v2 and FeV BF-1. Both builds have been used as drippers previously on eleaf pico and dna 75.
Later tonight I built a Despot with 316L, 28ga.
Have dumped on a Dvarw with the same build which works great on Dicodes and DNA 75, same build as the Despot.

My thought was that the chipset is faulty and I just tried manually adjusting the TCR again and now it won't go higher than 99.
Looks like the chipset has begun its journey towards death.

@Tor R here is more information on Inowire SS304L and TC.

Per the French forum-ecigaretteDOTcom and their SS304L thread "New inowire resistive wire"...

"Au pire tu as le TCR exploitable avec le 304L sur la DNA. TCR Value entre 0.00104 et 0.00106."

Translated: "At worst you have the exploitable TCR with the 304L on the DNA. TCR Value between 0.00104 and 0.00106."

So... using Inowire SS304L a TCR between 104-106 is recommended.

Yep, sounds like you have a faulty mod. That sucks. :glare:

Hopefully wherever you got it from can get a replacement for you.

If their Aulus chip is similar to their Nucleo chip...

The Aulus user guide says this about Short Out Protection:

SHORT OUT PROTECTION
This situation is quite serious. It indicates that the system has gone into protection mode after detecting an output short circuit. Check the wiring and the connection of the atomizer.

That error doesn't have anything to do with temp control.

I attached the Aulus user guide.

Thank you for all those links and help mate.

It feels like I've been tuned into something, which I don't see.
The thing is, the error message comes as soon as I press the fire button. Go back to the power setting and it works, in TC it bugs before you can use the mod for a vape.
But Nucleo has factory settings too, and that error is not reset back to factory settings.

Tomorrow I will set aside some time to build a couple of attys I bought months ago, can use them to test against dicodes, dna's and this nucleo.

The mod is from Sunbox, no idea how they are at fixing things.

I get the error even without an atty

We almost got some rain today. There was a bunch of thunder, but no rain. All these almost rainstorms are doing nothing but causing the humidity to go up. The temp only reached a high of 86 today, but with a 90% humidity, it feels worse.

I am up, with the new dog. We had visits from 2 different grandkids at different times, and both times the dog came to me and sat by me in my recliner. This is huge! So we spent a lot of time together since the youngest GD is staying with us until Monday. Hopefully we'll get back to sleep sooooooon. :)
