Good morning random folks :) Have you any plans today?
Buying an extension ladder to reach this corbel on my house that needs some TLC. I've been scraping/wood filling/sanding and priming/painting them but one of them I can't reach with the ladder I have.
One of the corbels was rotted so I had to custom make a replacement piece. Of course being an ancient house the dimensions were much different than modern. I had to cut down a 6x6 down to 3 11/16ths. A 4x4 is actually 3 1/2 x 3 1/2. I just used my table saw to make the pointy end (of course it was a goofy angle)

Don't mind the terrible wood filling, I wasn't done and it will look better when I fill in more and smooth it out.

Grocery shopping is my plan. Not my favorite one. Hopefully I can get another recipe written later.
I dont mind grocery shopping, until my wife has me hunting for uncommon and rare items, and when the grocery store switches stuff around on you. Why do they have to switch it up? :-x

Morning, mixers.
Why do they have to switch it up?

So the shoppers have to see everything in store, hoping for impulse buys. Yeah, it's deliberate. :grr:

We didn't get much more rain yesterday, but at least it's still in the guess for - the whole week!

And no deluge in the guess, either, so that bodes well. They do expect slides in the various burn scars, but that's what you get...

So, football :)

Yup. And that IS the rumor we try to perpetuate to keep sun worshippers away. They can go to Philadelphia, where it's always sunny. ;)

Been a long dry summer, although not as hot as last year. We'll usually get some rain in the summer months, although not a lot. This year, basically nada. But the rain should have started back up mid-September, NOT late October!!

And, due to usually wet conditions, many trees don't bother to sink tap roots, so when prolonged drought hits, they can suffer. So, while most of the garden had gone to seed already, the last 6 weeks we've been trying to keep our trees soaked. I think most if not all will recover... time will tell, and the nice gradual soaking we got will help.

Morning all, 56 here in Vegas. Should be nice today, but I'll be watching football and playing with the 2 grandkids. The 4 yr old wanted to put makeup on Grandpa, and don't tell anyone but we did it. Luckily it was kids makeup and didn't even show. LOL I never thought I would do something like that but when a granddaughter asks, you do it. There are NOT any pics!

Spent some scary time up assorted ladders yesterday picking persimmons. The tree is at least 12 years old and this is the first year I got major quantities of fruit. 2 large buckets full so far. You're supposed to let them get overripe and fall off but once they get close to ripe something eats them. Guessing racoons, it must be large critters because they break the small branches off. If you pick them when they are just starting to ripen they ripen the rest of the way indoors.

They are a major pain to process into pulp for freezing. My wife refuses to do any more. I still have to pick them though to stop the critters tearing the tree up.

    I love persimmon pudding.

My girls used to put their Moms makeup on me when they were younger, more than once. Also fingernail polish. I let them dye a couple long strands of my hair pink and blue, also more than once, which they then braided and added a couple feathers. Yes, there are photos somewhere around here.

30 years ago I'd died laughing if someone suggested that I would sit for that. But, kids and grandkids get special privileges I guess.

    Somewhere between here and there
I’ve accomplished almost nothing today. The Chiefs play at 3:25 so I’ll be watching that. I may try to put a little time in on a review while watching the game. Other than that I’m just doing laundry for the week. Not very ambitious I know. I did get the new BXR set up that I just got in the mail.

Question for y'all... how many of you would, or could, live without internet, cell phones or TV (IOW no electricity) for a month?

I would have no problem whatsoever. Would do it for less than 100K too. Usually when I disappear from ECF I go off grid.
