Morning, mixers.

Yesterday's rain break wasn't. Not really surprised, though. A bit cooler, so that bodes well to keep the snow that's up higher.

    Somewhere between here and there
I was going to drive Saturday morning to my daughter's place while my wife is going Friday afternoon but we didn't have anyone to watch the dog so I was going to drive back home Saturday afternoon after helping my daughter try to find a car to buy. However, they are calling for a wintry mix Saturday afternoon and I don't want to deal with it on a regular 3 hour drive home which would make for six hours in the car that day along with any delays due to weather. My wife seems to think that our 25 year old daughter isn't capable of shopping for a car by herself so is going to help her look and wanted me to go too but someone has to take care of the dog.

You should ask her if she wants to stay with the dog.

    Ugh...
My car - heater went out...brrr.
    Then started overheating.
Googled, radiator fluid was a little down, topped it off.
    Still overheating. Crap.
    Took it to Nissan dealer.
    Yep, radiator, hoses...blah blah blah.
Went ahead with some other stuff too - control arm, alignment. Drain and replace all fluids...
    $3,000.00

    Heater works again :)

Not too too bad I recon.
    It's a 97 Maxima with only 86K miles.
Yeah, I know that feeling. Last summer I spent $2400 on my 98 S10 truck which also had 86K miles on it. The bodywork looks like new. Didn't use it for a couple of years because the tires were bad and I had a couple of other cars. Thought it would be enough to fire up the engine couple of times a month but not so much. It needed all the fluids flushing, tires, brakes, some suspension work. Now it's good as new. The only thing not fixed was the A/C, that hadn't worked for 15 years and would have been a complete rebuild, those things are expensive to fix.

If you've got a good old vehicle it's worth fixing these days. You can't find a low milage vehicle for anything close to the cost of fixing up an old one.

We came down with the plague. Since it hit me and the wife simultaneously it seems like we must have caught it at the same time. We hadn't been out in public together for a couple of weeks apart from a wake last week so I'm going to blame that.

Man, that thing hits like a train. Barbed wire in the throat so you're afraid to cough, every part of your body hurts. We both spent 2 days in bed, all we could take down was water. As of this morning my throat doesn't hurt. I had just enough energy to eat a dish of yogurt.

Good thing is with all the shots it's unlikely to kill you these days.

The original plan was for my wife to go on Wednesday and then I would go on Saturday by myself but my mother in law fell and hurt her leg last Friday so she needed my wife to take her to the doctor today and she didn't want to drive there and back on Wednesday. It really threw a wrench in things. I could have gone by myself Saturday and spent the night with the wife at home with the dog but instead I was going to be forced to drive six hours.

I had the throat thing when I had it a couple weeks ago. Mine lasted 5 days before my throat stopped hurting.
