Good morning

It was 32° when we were out doing chores at 4:30ish. It's up to 54° and sunny currently. S'posed to reach 65° later.

Need to rewick a couple rba's today. I might create some new recipes later (TBD). I'm in no rush.

True but this guy is a real worker. You wouldn’t catch him on the phone unless it was lunch or a break.
Might be like our mail lady, she talks the whole time she is bringing the mail on one of those bluetooth ear things. Nobody could have that much to say.

@Zazie have a look at my blog entry for wicking with rayon. I figured might as well make it a blog entry like l did with the Hussar Project X rta.

I used one of my SvoëMesto kayfun [lite] 2019's for the tutorial.

Although, it really doesn't matter what RTA is used, with rayon it's the same concepts (or very similar) for every other RTA.

Lemme know how that works for you Zaz. Hopefully there is something in the tutorial that helps to resolve the issue you're experiencing. ((( my fingers and toes are crossed )))
I have now studied your blog entry. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the crux of my difficulties lies inside the coil itself, and your painstaking tutorial can't help with that. Trial and error must continue, I'm afraid.

An observation: the picture illustrating how you trim the wick tails has a line indicating the o-ring with which they should align. The tails, though, seem to extend out to the bigger o-ring below the one to which your line points. I am thus confused.

Thanks again for taking the time to put this guide together. It was really nice of you to go to so much trouble.

    Joke I heard once.

    Guys on the phone.
    - wanna get a beer tonight
    - sure. 8.00 at the Rotten Crotch work for ya?
    - yeah, later

    Girls on the phone
    - it made me feel sad
    2 hours later
    - and after 3 days of explaining it to him he still doesn't get why I feel sad

Inside the coil itself, meaning not enough rayon density in the coil? Or perhaps too much?

The pic showing how I trim the tails to the top of that o-ring was shot before I did my final trim. Rest assured, the tails do line-up with the top of that o-ring.

You are welcome Zaz. It was no trouble at all, in fact it was fun for me to do.

I do hope you are able to get things sorted out.

I must not be normal. I hate talking on the phone.

I do not like yip-yappin' on the phone.

Facetime calls are different. Each party can at least see each other. Kinda like the video conference calls of old.

My family and some friends know to text instead of calling. With smartphones cold calling someone is considered rude these days.

I don't really enjoy talking on the phone either. About the only person I'll stay on with very long is my sister or my daughter that lives three hours away.

    Quick question.

I notice you flip the tails up horizontally and cut the top off. I always put the coils down and trim the sides. That's using rayon in my OG KFLs. Is there an advantage to trimming the tops rather than the sides. Don't remember why I started trimming the sides.

FYI - on my ancient Lemo tanks I don't trim the tails at all or they flood like crazy. No idea why. I never heard of any other tank where you don't trim rayon tails.

It doesn't matter if you trim off the top or from the sides of the wick tails. There is no advantage to trimming off the top, one side, both sides or the bottom. I've done all four and have no preference for one over the other.

Ah yes, the Lemo. Those were originally billed as the Kayfun killer (funny, the Lemo's died-off instead). Somewhere in my stash I have an OG Lemo (bottom fill/internal AF adjustment) and a couple Lemo 2's (topfill/external AF adjustment). There was also a Lemo 3. The Lemo's are very fussy when it comes to wicking. My Kayfun's have never been fussy with wicking. My KFLv2's and Russian 91%'s are very easy to wick.

I do switch off between cotton and rayon in all my RTA's and RDA's. Both have always worked well for me. I have no preference for one over the other.

Every time I open this site I get buried in pop-up ads. Got Ad Blocker . Best thing since sliced bread. 18 blocked ads.

You're a Supporting Member (as am I), you shouldn't be seeing any ads or popup ads at all on ECF. I never see any ads or popup ads on ECF. And I don't use any of the ad blocker plugins in Firefox or Safari.

Do you see the popup ads before you login? Or don't you ever logout?
I never logout of ECF on my Mac's or Windows machines, iPhone or iPad.

I don’t log out. I get none of those pop ups on my iPad.
