I loved watching Tiger Woods play. Used to watch a lot of golf with my Dad in the 60s and some of the 70s. Jack "the Golden Bear" Nicklaus and Arnold "The King" Palmer were favorites. Still enjoy watching some golf here and there.
That's how I got into golf too. My dad watched a lot of it when I was growing up. We went to a few tournaments too and it was fun seeing the golfers play live. I played a lot as a kid too, but not so much anymore.

Back in the 60's my journey home from work took me past Edgbaston cricket club in Birmingham. A game lasted 5 days. Sometimes I hopped off the bus, drank a couple of beers and watched for a while. Nothing much happened.
Couple of times after I came to the US I tried to explain cricket to americans. It never worked.
There was an ancient tradition in cricket called the slow hand clap. The whole audience politely clapped in unison about once every 1 or 2 secs. About as english as it gets. It died out in the 70's when the jamaicans started showing up. They were fanatical about cricket but they refused to go along with the slow clap. They screamed like football fans and blew horns. After years of conflict there was a deal, we gave in on the slow clap, they agreed to lose the horns.
Storms didn't start last nght but are expected to start any time now. I got lucky to get on here for a few. Of course I was up too early again.
