@ShowMeTwice I was almost afraid to try the Pastry Cream. I have to agree with you. It is a very good cream. Not sure I want to do the Alaskan Berries but I suppose I will have to sometime.
Glad you likey.Next up is WF Red Velvet Cake............
Did a 5ml SFT at 3% 0.15g about 9 drops - it didn't need any steeping. From the first hit it made itself know as an excellent flavor. It will only get better with a steep.
WF RVC tastes like an excellent cake. But is it a Red Velvet cake? Yes, it tastes like one to me. A hint of cocoa is present (as there should be). It has a slight tangy note. Sweetness sits at about the mid-point. Nothing off-putting. It's not dry.
WF RVC is just the cake, no frosting, but that can easily be added. Think 1% FLV Frosting or any of the other frosting flavors.
I will use WF RVC between 0.5% (accent) and up to 3% (main note).
A red velvet cake is not a chocolate cake (with its rich deep chocolate flavor). Red velvet cake is more subtle tasting. I'll let one of my favorite people go into the finer details.

The evolution of red velvet cake, an iconic American dessert
Red velvet cake is among the most recognizable and enjoyed desserts in the US. However, the red velvet cake we think of today - often drowned in red food coloring - is a far cry from the cake's early velvety, more pure chocolatey beginnings. Pastry chef and BraveTart author Stella Parks talked...www.splendidtable.org
When Stella Parks talks, I listen, she rocks!!! I snag DIY bakery ideas from her book "BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts". She has a good number of articles and recipes at Serious Eats. That website is one of my favorite places for DIY ideas. I think Stella was active on S.E. up until 2019(ish?).
Wonder Flavours Red Velvet Cake is another winner!!! As a total bakery nerd, I could vape the rest of this 5ml SFT today.
So far I'm 4 for 4 with the new WF's. All winners IMHO.![]()
It has come to my attention that I may have mixed the mango mousse with way too much flavor. I am not sure about this at all but it would explain why I couldn't taste the mango. I just mixed another bottle so we will see.
I did 2.2% on mine.I will SFT WF Mousse Mango at either 0.75% or 1% to start and go from there. Can then add more if needed.
Currently it is sitting last in the line of new WF's to SFT.
Did the ice cream toffee at 2%.I did 2.2% on mine.
Hope it'll be yummyI did 15 ml of the Mango mousse so I'll probably give it at least a couple days with shakes
Me too for sure.Hope it'll be yummy
That's way too high, Zazie.Well, it finally happened: I went to grab a flavor from its case, and it wasn't there. Turns out I had entered the wrong number in the inventory (4a23 instead of 4a13).
Kids, learn from my mistake.
This ordeal killed what little interest I had in mixing today, so I decided just to throw together a few simple Medicine Flower combos (I keep those flavors in the fridge, so no inventory to check or cases to pull, and, since I knew I'd only need a drop or two of each flavor, no scale to mess with, either). I ended up with black cherry-almond, guava-orange, lime-coconut-pineapple, and peach-raspberry. SMT"s hymn to cream just now may prompt me to go back and squirt a drop or two of some cream or other in each bottle. We'll see. I'm done for now (it may be cooler here than just about anywhere else in the world, but the humidity has been hovering around 98% for a month now, and it's wearing on me).
P.S. Your recipe has been added to the blog, @Kat56.
I just checked. It has dropped down to 92%, and there's even a breeze! That's way too high, Zazie.Ours has been high too but today it decided to be low.
Hopefully it won't be so hot soon. We're at 104 right now and rising. Humidity is only 24% as we haven't had much in the way of rain. It feels like a dry sauna if you go outside. I'm staying in except I will have to take my mother to pick up her car. My ac is struggling. It's running constantly and only cools it down partially. I also have the ceiling fan on and a standing fan as well. It beats being outside but I'm not looking forward to my electric bill this month.
Things I really should sft...Alaskan berries, Summertime lemonade, Sparkling strawberry and SSA Summer fruits.
Hopefully it won't be so hot soon.
