Good evening random folks. We had an interesting day today. We flew from Rome to Frankfurt Germany without any problems buttrying to get from one gate to the next was hard. We only had 30 minutes to get from gate 1 to gate 68 and neither mom nor I were able to move very fast. We got to security and I couldn't find my passport. The agent suggested I look in my security belt and, behold, it was there. Then the bottom of a paper bag mom was carrying bottomed out. We put the important things in our backpacks and left the mess. The We got to where we needed to have our boarding passes checked and mine was gone. Fortunately, they looked me up in the computer and gave me a barcode to get another one printed at the gate. We got to the gate and got my new boarding pass. The man then took us down 3 flights of stairs, which neither of us did very fast and we were able to get on the shuttle that took us to the plane. There was one couple that boarded after us, but we were nearly the last. We managed to get on the plane, which then took its place in line for takeoff. We had been in line at least 30 minutes when the captain came on and said we were going back to the gate to fix a generator problem. 30 minutes later the captain said the problem couldn't be fixed and the flight was canceled. Our group ran around the airport, again with mom and me having difficulty, until we found someone who could help us. We sat in a waiting area for 7 hours until we all got new flights, which don't leave until tomorrow. We got food and hotel vouchers, too. They got a taxi voucher for me and mom, with our priest escorting us. When we got to the hotel, the taxi driver didn't want to accept the voucher and got spitting mad. He and the hotel agent got into an argument and I thought the driver and our priest were going to get into a fistfight. The driver finally was persuaded to accept the voucher and left, with steam still coming out of his ears. So now we are stuck in Frankfurt in a cheap hotel with no luggage, except what we carried on. At least it has a clean bed and a roof over our heads, and we get fed tomorrow. We won't get to DFW until 8:45pm and then it will be close to 11pm before we get home. We fly to Chicago and then have a 3 hour layover before our flight leaves for Dallas. If we can make it to the US, that will be a major improvement.
