The offending flavor is WF Almond Cookie.
OK, I am still vaping the Almond Dream. No taste of perfume now. Maybe it did have a touch of alhohol? I do not know.

someone on ELR says WF Almond Cookie has 0.094 butyric acid in it

if you don't like, or are sensitive to BA, perhaps that's the offending component in the flavor ???

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

just about everyone on ELR 'raves' about the flavor

i never bought it because i prefer adding FA Almond (to taste) in mixes versus using a bakery flavor that has almond added

FA Almond is very realistic

per HIC's notes:

FA Almond
Sweet-almond flavor, very much like almond extract. Use it in bakery vapes just like you’d use almond extract when baking. To reduce the sweetness, use Almond with a little FA Nut Mix - this tastes more like raw almonds. Add some Almond when using Coconut for a classic flavor pairing and more complexity. A little almond can change the cherry/almond accent in FA Vanilla Tahiti to almond-vanilla. If you’re looking for sweet bitter-almond flavor (like in amaretto), see Marzipan. This is not a roasted or toasted nut flavor, but little accents of Oak Wood, TFA Brown Sugar, and/or Black Fire in a recipe can give that effect.

:)

FWIW: no one on ELR mentions it having alcohol

It probably was the BA but it's never bothered me before. Who knows I'm still vaping it. Is fine now.

Second tester up for MaMaMaMa23 is Dango, an attempted tribute named in honor of the King of Mangoes, Daniel Forsyth!
Will it be worthy of the name?

At first taste there is a leading citrus note which settles into a definite grapefruit flavor.
I used the Ruby Red Grapefruit at a bit less than the average usage range but it still makes itself known throughout the vape.

It seems to me that the two mangoes that I chose come in midway, joining with the grapefruit but not really overriding it, even though they account for just over half of the flavoring.

I'm not sure that I can identify the jackfruit in this mix, but once again I have never tried the real thing. (I really need to do SFTs)
I used jackfruit on the lower end of its typical usage range (ATF) as well so it could be blending in seamlessly or perhaps needs a little bump in percentage.

My intent for the cream was to add body to this mix but not really stand out and I think that is working here. At times I think I might taste it a bit but am not positive, so I think that is fine as is.

I did get what seemed to be some sort of off-note initially but that did subside and could have been a lingering effect from the previous tester.
After continued testing, Dango seems to be fairly smooth, has a bit of sweetness, but I do get some dryness at the end.

Is Dango worthy of its moniker?

    Not yet.
It has potential but needs some tuning. I think that I might switch up the mango combo, or perhaps just go with the Island Mango bumped up a bit more.
Perhaps give the jackfruit a little boost to see what that does.

There is that dryness as well, but I guess I would need to SFT most of these flavors to find which might be giving me the dryness.
From reading flavor notes, it seems that this effect can vary from person to person for any given concentrate.

    Testing setups:
Fat Rabbit Solo RTA with a N80 fused Clapton
Geekvape Aero tank with a SMOK TFV9 mesh coil.

Dango (as tested, 5 week steep)

    1.00% Cream (Flavorah)
    3.00% Island Mango (SC) (WF)
    2.00% Jackfruit (TPA)
    2.00% Mango (Flavorah)
1.50% Ruby Red Grapefruit (Natural) (FW)

Dango looks like a promising mix Gloop!!!

Is it okay with you if I add some thoughts???
If not just tell me to F off (please), I won't be offended, at all.

    here's what I would do.........

Add a second cream to compliment FLV Cream. Doing so will add more creaminess and mouthfeel without detracting from the fruit profile. FLV Cream is a fairly neutral cream flavor. I use it a lot because of that, but I always add another cream for better definition.

FLV Cream 1% and WF Vanilla Cream Extra 1% or SSA Clotted Cream 1% would do the trick. Bonus, adding a second cream will kill the dryness you experienced.

Yeah, Jackfruit is "one of those" that truly needs to be SFT'ed. IRL, it has a rather unique flavor. I would drop it altogether from the mix.

I would strongly suggest buying a real Jackfruit and a Mango, doing so will help your mixing. Same goes for other fruits. IMHO.

I agree with Fran, lower the grapefruit to bring the mango profile forward.
Or sub SSA Grapefruit or FA Grapefruit for FW Ruby Red Grapefruit. Those are more realistic and less harsh.

Alternatively, lose FLV Mango and go with FLV Ripe Mango and FLV Sweet Mango at low %'s (like 1.5% and 0.75%). Keep Island Mango as is. Island Mango really needs the help of another mango for a more complete mango profile (IMHO). It's not good enough to stand on it's own (IMHO).

If you want the grapefruit/mango blend to really "POP", then add 0.25% SSA Natural Lemon. It will boost the overall fruit profile without adding any lemon flavor. Think of it as a blending agent. If doing a 10ml mix, 1 drop SSA NL will do the trick.

Add a bakery flavor, for some texture and complexity. Something like, FW White Cake 3% and CAP Cake Batter 0.5%. The cake batter will add noticeable moistness to the mix. FW Cake Batter Dip, same %, does the same thing.

Add FLV Sweetness or CAP Super Sweet, 1 drop per/10ml to pull the mix together. It won't add any sickly sweetness to the mix, just helps to tie everything in the mix together.

Just my 2 cents........ I never go by the average usage ranges on ELR, ATF or FB for recommended flavor percentages. Unless, I know the mixer, and more importantly, how they go about developing their recipes. As I said, just my :2c:...... so, take it with a grain of salt.

Good luck with however you decide to proceed!!! :)

There are several recipes of interest I remember but you have to look thru all.

Right, for my personal tastes, I wouldn't mix anything in it. At least, without changes in percents and flavor subs.

Same with the two Flavorah recipe PDF's that I linked a long while back. I think both of those are in Zazie's blog (Appendix).

Sometimes I use those looking for flavor combinations that I've not thought of. That's truly my main use for them.

And, I'm sure there are really good recipes in those. They're likely super helpful for folks who don't like developing their own mixes and just want to mix minus fartin' around. IDK...........

    :)

This is true. There are ideas in there but as you said I wouldn't mix anything in there without changing flavors and %. Also good for flavor combos as you said.
I'm going to mix gloop's recipe with most of your suggestions. I think it will be good.

Thank you, SMT, I don't mind getting tips/advice/thoughts at all!
This might be useful for Dan as well as I think he might have mixed up a tester for this but with a different grapefruit.
    I do have FA Grapefruit.

[...] the two Flavorah recipe PDF's that I linked a long while back. I think both of those are in Zazie's blog (Appendix).

Yes, the link is in Zazie's blog.

Ugh, because Flavorah changed how they link to both PDF files. The original direct links are no longer working via FLV's website. Instead, FLV placed links to them in each individual recipe web page ( dumbness!!! ).

    So, a workaround then.........

    Flavorah Recipe Book Volume 1

    < and >

    Flavorah Recipe Book Volume 2

I'm hosting both PDF's on my free Sync account. They are set to Public. Both files are way too large to add them on ECF (~6mb limit).

For those who don't know, Flavorah published two huge DIY recipe books in PDF format. There are tons of recipes in each.

@Zazie, can you please add this to the Appendix of your blog and delete the previous entry?

In the appendix you have it as:

Flavorah's "Mastering The Art Of DIY Vapor"
    #ShowMeTwice

Can you just update the link to reference this post instead? TIA :)

ETA: adding the following from the previous link, so all the info is here......

You might be interested in the recipe books Flavorah created called "Mastering The Art Of DIY Vapor" volumes 1 and 2. They are excellent and contain useful DIY tips and many excellent recipes from a variety of well known DIY'ers.

Note: The recipes in their books are for 100ml of juice. So one would need to make adjustments in their preferred juice calculator.

I am done looking thru recipes before I go cross-eyed. LOL
I was thinking of offering to send you a few very long screenshots of commercial "clone" recipes that I saved from Pinterest. Many are by a mixer/mixers that go by the handle Fumonoid. They are mostly old school high-percentage recipes.
There could be inspiration somewhere in there. That is actually where I saw the Grumpy Old (So-and-So) recipe that inspired a few mixes for me.

Some are a bit fuzzy though and might induce some eye fatigue or crossed eyes!

Haha, your comment inspired a name for a jackfruit featured mix - but it might get some weird looks!
