Don't forget our volcanoes! :)

Oh joy! The unpredictability, rumblings, lava flow, hot ash spewing all over and giant boulders being sent miles. ;)

The times I was in WA, I totally loved it. Hiking around Snoqualmie Falls, the lower parts of Mt. Rainier and over in Olympic N.P. was awesome.

Worst were California (I hate earthquakes)

California totally suits my lifestyle to a T. Experienced an earthquake in LA in the 80's. Once was enough for me, I prefer stable ground underfoot. Besides living in San Diego I spent a lot of time in LA and SanFran for my job. Cali is a beautiful place to visit. I do miss buying freshly picked strawberries from the sides of the roads just outside of SanFran. I can close my eyes, smell and taste them from memory.

I don't care how hot it gets in the summer, I wont leave Texas. I've been in SD during the winter and was never more miserable in my life.
You can keep all that hot weather in Texas.

Ok, not a recipe as such but for those who like Lemon Tart and similar, you gotta get SSA Lemon Pound Cake if you haven't tried it. It is great as a one shot and would be excellent in all sorts of recipes that can use lemon and cake. @sessiondrummer was so right about this one. I no longer need to buy Lemon Tart, I can use this and add a bit of sour and bingo.

Without tasting it, I can tell that Wllmc got it wrong. Frappapow is quite dark and his recipe using the TFA Caramel Capp. is light. I just hope it tastes similar enough that I can use it as an adv.
I hope it is close enough that you like it or can tune it in a bit.

I'll be starting on my SOD chocolate testers by next week though it might take some time to work through all eight of them. (unless I get lucky and taste Entenmann's right away)
I had planned to start from lightest to darkest but might have a sniff of each first and go by smell.

    Halfway to Paradise, WA
    Mountain go boom :(

And it did in 1980, big boom...Mt St Helens. It was not fun being covered in gray ash that cut like a knife.

    Thankfully not since!

We were still up in Port Orchard then, and only got a light dusting, as the prevailing winds took most of it elsewhere.

And those are just some of the tourist traps ;) Paradise is just a few miles uphill from us. (For those not in / familiar with western WA, Paradise is the main part of the Park Service facilities on the southern side of Mt Rainier.)

My vote is for go by smell.

The Paradise Inn is where I stayed for a couple days while trekking around Mt. Rainier. It was very rustic, no phone or TV in my room. Totally perfect!

ooooooh, I have an idea or three...........

Take two of the eight, flip a coin, winner moves to the next round, continue until one remains. Test that one first.

Then repeat the process for the remaining seven.

Or just ignore my well reasoned idea, and go with smell.

But, if you go by smell, then which one goes first? Which smell is the deciding one? One whose smell you like or one you don't. If you determine your testing by smell, then your brain will have selected ones you don't prefer "by smell".

    Hmmm......... a conundrum.

I wouldn't go by smell. I would close my eyes, mix them up, no peeking, and select one of the eight. Seems more fair, to me.

B-b-but....... how will you "reset" your sense of taste in-between testing each one. LOLz, this needs to be a fair test!!!

Okay......... I will totally S-T-F-U now............ unless I think of "other" variables........
