FWIW.........

The oldest known bonsai is the Ficus Retusa Linn, found in the Crespi Bonsai Museum in Italy. It is estimated to be over 1000 years old.

The tree was previously taken care of by Chinese bonsai masters. During its first years in Italy, it was shaped by Shotaro Kawahara, one of the most famous Japanese bonsai masters.

makes me wonder how @Fredman1 and his bonsais are doing
Hey Bro. Very good to see you
All is good down here at the bottom of the world..
The bonsai is doing ok. Bit of a mixed bag actually. We had a VERY windy summer and some did better than others. Some are ready to be sold now...to buy that new bicycle. I'm tired of changing gear...and replacing chains. Mid drive e bikes are hard on chains. It needs replacement every +-1600km.

See....no chain. It has a CVT gearbox in the back wheel.

Yeah there's some very old bonsai trees around.
No reason why a tree in a pot can't live as long as one in the ground.
I saw some jaw dropping ones at monasteries in Vietnam.....old and huge.
Funny when I see a fig bonsai, I think of the Buddha sitting under it :D

I'm intrigued by another faced of bonsai lately....Satsuki azalea.

There are a multitude of varients and colour combinations. I have a few that's around 10 years old, but i'm actively extending the collection now. Found a guy in Belgium that cross pollinate them. He sends me seed and I germinate and grow them on. Plan to do my own pollinating in time.
Yeah life is good my friend. Thanks for thinking of me ;)

Hello my Brother!!! Long time, no hear. But, I know, you and I have been, well, doing It. And for me, that goes well!!!

That looks like a really nice e-bike!!! I still use a fairly old pedal bike (18 speed). Pedal power!!! LOL

Those are some really awesome Vietnamese bonsai. I've never been to Vietnam before.

Wow, the Satsuki azalea is gorgeous!!! Good luck with the growing and pollinating.

Life is good here too. Thanks for posting my Brother!!! :)

Good evening. Our oldest daughter came home today to get her cello for a short film she’s in. She stayed for a couple hours after I got home then had to drive back.
Good evening, hitt.:) I know you enjoyed the visit.

I did even though it was just for a couple hours.

I got in some much needed exercise after she left. I skipped over the weekend with so much going on.

My bicycle has 3 gears built into the rear wheel hub and controlled by a lever on the handlebars. I got it years ago for free. The wheels were warped and the gears were locked solid. Over a period of a couple of weeks I let a whole can of WD40 slowly drip through the gear hub until it all loosened up. Then another week letting oil drip through to get rid of the WD40. Put in new spokes and straightened the wheels out. I stripped it all the way down and painted the frame, New seat and cables and chain. It was like a new bike. Works for me but I don't put in a lot of miles. Don't like riding in traffic but there's a canal path a few blocks up the road.
