I use to enjoy Spring when we moved where we are. In the landscaping, there were lots of flowering plants. Roses, Rhododendron, Clematis, Fire Pokers, Yucca, and more I don't know the names of because I chopped them to the ground and or ripped them from their beds over the years.

Along with Spring comes downpours and hail. It's devastating.

My Yucca, two are 6ft tall and flower every year. The Purple Clematis thrive beautifully. Fire Pokers do well, but fizzle out too quickly. My Gunnera Manacata are both in huge concrete Planters. They do well, but the Potato Bugs like them more. I can't for the life of me, keep them away.

In England Fire Pokers are called Red Hot Pokers. They grow best in colder climates so they were all over when I was a kid. My father grew them and both grandparents. I tried them in Indiana but the summer heat gave them problems. Apparently there are heat tolerant varieties now, the ones I had were the original variety.

I have Yukkas too. Hard to kill those suckas. I dug some up one spring and a 6" piece of root lay on the steps up to my deck all summer. End of summer I cleaned the steps and brushed it onto some grass and the next spring it sprouted right up.

Fire Poker is the correct terminology. I was low on caffeine..lol. They're hearty. I'm in a cold PNW region. They don't last long when they bloom.

The guessers revised our high to 81, but they should've left at 77, because it looks like the high is 76. No rain yet but there are a few clouds. We're under a tornado watch right now. Those don't bother me. I start to get worried if there's a warning, but I don't run for cover until the sirens sound.

In that case I hope for no sirens.

The guessers were right after all. It got up to 81. The heat isn't killing me as bad as the humidity at 80%. We got a touch of rain, so quiet that I didn't realize it was raining until after the fact. Severe thunderstorm watch for tonight. The sirens did go off...

...for the usual Thursday 5pm test

    ETA: I just heard thunder.

Did you get to shelter? Oh nevermind.
