Same here. I'm packing stuff, but I can't really move in the rain, or at least I don't want to. I feel this rain may delay things too much. It's supposed to rain most of next week too.
Hopefully you don't get much rain.

    Morning, mixers.

Good morning. Cooler and rainy all weekend here.

That's the guess for here as well, but starting today. Hope the eggs have waterproof dye :)

I got dd's old bedroom/craft room mostly done, except for my vape stash. I got a ton of empty boxes for devices that I don't know what to do with. Some are in use and others are long dead. I need to sort all my vape gear but don't want to undertake that chore right now. I guess I'll just pack them all up and sort them later. Next up is the utility room. There's a lot of junk in there I need to toss. I hate moving.

The wife showed me a house that came up for sale in a neighborhood close by that we like. I’m just not sure that I want to take on a new mortgage at my age when we are so close to paying ours off. We might go look at it anyway.

Might the net gain from selling the almost paid off one be enough of an offset to make it do-able?

I agree. Your current house is probably worth a lot more than you think it is. Houses are selling for a go's awful high price nowadays. Of course that is dependent on the region. Trouble is, that the new one is probably expensive too, and interest rates are not very good.

It is possible. We would still need to get a loan for somewhere between $120-150k after putting up the money from the sale of ours.

I could get a VA loan with no mortgage insurance but I think the rates are still around 5.8% or so. Thats higher than the loan I have. I don’t even know if the wife wants to go look at it or not. The open house is just from 1-3 today.

Yowzaa, must be one heck of an upgrade!
Yes, about another 1000 square feet and a third car garage. It’s priced about $110k more than what ours is worth. We did go look at it and it’s not terrible but whoever took the pictures made it look better than it was. I counted three doors that need replacing and a lot of the rooms need painted. It has a high deck on one side that has some wood rot on one of the posts and it desperately needs stained. For some reason they painted all the molding brown which we didnt like. It would take a good bit of time and money to get it where we wanted. I liked the wooded lot and there’s a nice gazebo out back but to consider taking on a new mortgage when I’m a year away from paying mine off then it would have to be more turn key.

Yes, there's a lot to be said for being mortgage free when looking to retire! Needing to put more time and $$ into a "new" place... yeah, more turn key would be better!!
