Hello I'm new here.

Could someone kindly aid me? I'm facing an issue with my vape.

It's a geek vape with one of those screw on battery doors. I found a collection of "grime" on the o ring and the part above it. It was green and has the consistency of slime / jello.

I looked at the battery and it's wrap is intact. There is no damage nor corrosion. I believe that the battery is fine. I have no issues with overheating either and the chamber which holds it was clear of any dirt.

Am I fine? Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes I do clean the mod (outside) using a slightly wet microfiber cloth. It's an IP68 mod. Could water have seeped in an caused this?

I believe it could have been mold. Any tips please? Are you supposed to clean the battery door regularly?

One of these things. Only it was at the top above and around / maybe slightly beneath the o ring. The threads were clear.

I clean the device regularly I'm not gross it was just the battery door at that part that was affected. I took off the door maybe 2 months ago and it was fine. I usually don't take it off since I charge the batteries in the mod.

I haven’t used one of those in a long time but have other mods in rotation that have similar battery caps and have never gotten anything like what you described. I don’t remember if the cap on that one is stainless steel or aluminum. I’d probably just clean it and put a small amount of electrical conductive lubricant on it. If it’s aluminum then you can use noalox.

But if the battery itself looks intact, has good battery life, there was no strong chemical smell etc... It's likely fine right?

I could not spot any corrosion. The battery does has a light mark at the negative thermal from the door (no damage my last one had this too with the same vape model the battery door paint rubs off a bit I think).

I would think that it’s ok if the battery is intact. However, it’s recommended to not charge batteries inside mods in case the battery fails. About the only ones I’ll charge a battery inside of is a dna mod since I was told that the charging circuit in those are better than most chargers.

I have some geekvape mods with that same cap. Normally get black stuff building up on the threads but never green slime. Could you have put the mod down on a surface that had something liquid on it? I always take the battery out to charge. Maybe leaving it in for a long time does something?

You should clean the threads on the cap and the hole where it screws in once in a while with alcohol. Keeps the electrical connection good.

I did find green gunge in the same position once but it was on pico mod which had a copper plated cap and top plate. Green comes with copper. But I'm pretty sure the GV is SS.

It has been some time since I cleaned it. The last one also had some dirt build up in the same spot if I recall correctly but not green or this weird slimy substance.

I didn't put it down anywhere / spill anything so that can't be it, I'm certain of it.

I already looked it up on saw that copper can turn green in some cases.

When it's dirty I sometimes clean it with a wet cloth. I think I made the mistake of not screwing the door tight enough and a little water seeped which "brewed" there causing this strange mold.

I looked it up an read about copper too and the door is indeed stainless steel I believe but I'm pretty sure my pipes are made from copper or some kind of alloy that contains copper. Perhaps the water which I used to clean it had copper molecules in it causing this strange buildup? It's strange however usually when copper turns green it's rust right? Oxidation. Since this came off (it was a bit hard but not rusted) and there is no corrosion on the door I find it doubtful that it's indeed rust. I'm leaning more towards mold.

I also read about chlorine being able to turn certain metals green namely copper and the like. Perhaps the water which I used to clean it seeped inside and either the door is made of some alloy with copper in it? Or maybe the water had some copper molecules in it from my pipes?

I know this unfortunately I have neither the money or frankly the desire to handle and transfer batteries everyday. These days I view it as fine. Perhaps when vaping was new this was important but most mods these days should come with overcurrent etc protection especially brands like Vaporesso and well known Western items. I don't think it's that much of an issue.

I read a lot about the DNA chip but to be honest I doubt the difference would be noticeable when comparing to the new Vaporesso or Geekvape chips, both are very good.

Lostvape makes mods like that but I don't buy them since the only ever product I had from them failed spectacularly.

Sorry you had bad luck with lost vape. I have several dna mods and none have failed. Not all are lost vape. I do have a Thelema Dna100c that’s been in use daily since I got it 2-3 years ago and it’s still working fine. I used to review for geekvape and tested many of their mods. Their chipset was pretty good but in my opinion the dna chips are superior and offer many functions that others don’t have. Also they can be connected to a pc with escribe and I can edit settings. I also reviewed for Vaporesso for a few years and the Axon chipset is good. I still like vaporesso. However, geekvape treated myself and other reviewers poorly here on Ecf so I decided to not review anything they make again. I have piles of hardware from them from reviews and purchases but haven’t used it since then. Maybe some day. They haven’t come out with an original design in years. It’s just the same old models over and over since Justin Lai quit geekvape years ago. He was behind the original Aegis design.
