Not a lot of stress is put on the battery. The most stressful thing it endures is charging.
Could there be a microtear in the wrap or microscopic hole even though it has been I' the chamber? I don't really drop the device but sure it has had some slight bumps.
The wrap looks fine tho the battery itself it looks like new. It also holds a charge nicely.

It also quite defies logic that were it to be leakage it somehow found it's way inside the threads and only at the bottom while the internal chamber and threads somehow eluded this. If it had leaked it should not have been able to get past the threads given that there is no gap.

If you have dropped the mod many times on the ground, you can also get a tear in the battery wrap, and in the worst case, damage to the cell.
Anyway, with what you have said in the posts, it should be time for a new battery.
One of the reasons why most of us use external battery chargers is that modern chargers give us a lot of battery information, choose how hard/gently we charge it, and not least we automatically inspect the battery a little when we take it out of the mod.

I think it’s always a good idea to clean any piece that makes contact with the battery or electrical circuit.

The normal black build-up in the threads is made up of dead electrons. There are tiny gaps between the inner and outer threads. The current tries to jump those gaps and some of the electrons don't have enough energy to make it across. They end up as black deposits on the threads.

Dead electrons was a popular joke topic on ECF around the time I joined. Actually some of the funniest stuff I ever saw here was discussions about dead electrons. I just did a quick search on it and had a laugh remembering the good old days.

I mixed up a couple sft from my last nomnomz order. I’m trying Ry4 Fortress now in a pod and it’s pretty good solo. It’s a sweet type ry4 but with a fair amount of tobacco flavor in the background. Initial thought is it’s a keeper.
