    I’m not sure exactly how much we got but it looked like about 4 inches on top of my car when I left work. The drive home wasn’t too bad. I always take the longer route home that’s all city streets instead of getting on the highway with the idiots when the weather is bad.
    Glad you made it safe..

    good afterNoon people......... :greengrin:

    ya wanna know about snow?
    <or, perhaps you don't, LOL>

    our place up north, got just over 2 feet in the last 7dayz,
    much <most?> of it on saturday;
    our place in the city got 1 foot of snow on saturday

    also, we're well into the first Polar Vortex of the season,
    mornin' temps in single digits, with wind chills (feels like) below 0,
    coldest temps coming in the next few days,
    those will be actual sub-zero temps....... LOL

    and ICYWW,
    the northern hemisphere meteorological winter started on december 1st..........

    anyhow, i've been having fun in the snow.........
    have plenty of sub-zero winter gear to stay warm/dry outside........

    it's lovely outdoors when it snows,
    looks real pretty when everything is coated in white,
    and it's sooooo freakin' tranquil...
    so quiet and peaceful to the MAX.......
    pure awesomeness!!!

    Good afternoon random folks. I had the electrician out today. Yep, those lights going out were a symptom of a bigger problem. The breaker box is too small for the house and the breaker switches are too small. I need a whole new, larger breaker box or I'll just have more problems. The wiring in the whole house is really too light, but that can't be helped. The breakers overheat and they should trip, but dont. I'll need a surge protector as well. Bottom line, $2500-$3000. The electrician will go over all the fixtures in the affected circuit and replace the breaker box and install the surge protector, probably early next week.

    I'm happy for you that the electrician checked everything out. Sorry about the cost though. Better safe than sorry.

    [...] expensive repairs, right before Christmas.

    Last November we had to replace the furnace in our city home. 7000$. The old one was from 1990, the year we bought the place. Got 34 years out of the old furnace though.

    I just got the official estimate, and it's a bit cheaper than originally quoted, just under $2000, which includes the $200 i would have to pay anyway for the visit yesterday. I could just pay $500 and just fix the one breaker that's giving problems but that is like putting a bandaid on a bleeder. I'd have to replace the breaker box in the future anyway.

    My old 6ft pop up tree, which I hadn't used in several years was dug out of storage and, not surprisingly, it doesn't work. I ordered a new tree and some cat repellent spray from Amazon, so I won't have a tree until next week.

    At least your tree will arrive well before Christmas.
