Steeping - It's not quite like tea because you usually remove the tea leaves before drinking, but that's where the word came from. juice flavour can change over time. Certain carriers, like alcohol, might evaporate, while flavours mix and combine. Sometimes ejuice is great as soon as it's made, and in other cases it gets better (or worse) after a few days, weeks or months.

[this is a copy and paste of my old post--this has been discussed here for years :D)

Steeping eliquids is all about "diffusion" per Hoosier and Kurt--who just happen to be experts on the subject.

Steeping explanation

Steeping is highly overrated and overhyped. Unless you DYI or buy fresh NETs, taste your juice when it arrives--if you like it, vape it. If you don't like it, let it sit for a while... It may get better, but it may also get much worse. Eliquid flavors will change with time no matter what you do; I like some of my favorite juices when they are very young, others taste better--to my taste buds--after a while. We're all different. YMMV.

Taking the cap off has nothing to do with steeping. You leave the cap off overnight only if your eliquid has an overpowering odor--alcohol, perfume, etc.--and you want to get rid of that. With any luck, those offending volatile molecules will evaporate.

IOW, your juice should be at least tolerable/vapable fresh out of the box. If it isn't, then steeping may not help at all. Sorry.

Thank you all for the responses (except those that just say "google it") I'm not lazy... wanted some individual perspective too. On most forums, we could all just respond "google it" and there would not be any reason to even have forums

I did that, as you did not say in the post that you wanted personal perspectives, so I didn't give any, your questions demand factual answers. 8)

There are people here who cannot highlight and google, by their own admission. They are tech-bamboozled 8) So I help if I can.

Sorry if I thought you were such.

OMG... opinionated's blog is so helpful, especially the DIY stuff. "tootle puffer" is one that I doubt google would have been helpful, and cool that it started here on ECF (that's the kind of stuff I wanted to know) I know what "resistance wire is, but still want to know WHY it is (I will research that myself) This thread was not just for me (trying to help others too) Anyone else care to ask a few questions?

I shall correct you because I was actually there when the term was coined by our cranky friend @Croak in February 2015. :)

Sorry, I got my bird avatars muddled  and I even work with chickens ;)

Your reaction to being called a tootle puffer is absolutely priceless

Yeah, we had a moment there. He was so mad and just blurted out this "tight-draw-low-wattage-tootle-puffers" out of pure exasperation. I couldn't stop laughing. The name got abbreviated later on to just tootle puffers, and then of course Kat started her epic thread--and the rest is history. :D

@Katya steeping is not overrated. It is maybe not too necessary for some flavor profiles, and can actually be a detriment to a few. And you can’t gix a bad mix by leaving it sit. But most mixed fo benefit, some quite a lot.

Just because you buy your juice and don’t have to worry about it doesn’t mean you aren’t benefiting from your juice having been steeped.

There are a lot of mixers here and how long the juice sits is part of the recipe as surely as baking time is to a cake.

That's exactly what I was saying. I think we agree. I also said: Unless you DYI or buy fresh NETs, taste your juice when it arrives--if you like it, vape it. If you don't like it, let it sit for a while...

We do agree, I think. And I do DIY--some flavors (I use mostly FA) are ready right away. Others need some time. The more complex the recipe, the more time it needs, methinks. Again, not always. :)

Well, we do agree about that, if it tastes good, vape it. For folks who are just beginning to mix, I like to tell them it’s okay to vape it as soon as it’s shaken, because some seem to get the idea that there’s some reason you absolutely must wait so many weeks. Nope. It’s fine. But I also like to advise not to tweak anything until it’s had time. They’re used to commercial juice, which is usually not freshly made and may mistakenly think their own stuff is not as good.

I'm very curious about what certain terms and numbers mean and
    ...
    510 thread
    ...

    ...

    510 = 10 threads at 0.5mm per thread

I am sure there are errors above. Please correct.

    A "510 Thread" is actual a M7 x .5mm Thread.

The Origins of the term 510 comes from one of the Very Early mainstream kits, the Joye 510.

People started to call things "510" to differentiate them from another thread that came along for Cartos, the KR808D-1. Which people shorten to just KR808.

Hunters who have attempted to catch squonks have found that the creature is capable of evading capture by dissolving completely into a pool of tears and bubbles when cornered.

    Squonk - Wikipedia

    True...

    "...

    Walking home that night
The sack across my back, the sound of sobbing on my shoulder
    When suddenly it stopped
I opened up the sack, all that I had
A pool of bubbles and tears
    Just a pool of tears
