...

I got familiar with Meddle on cassette. Something tells me Echoes wouldn't have been good that way but the rest probably would have been especially "Fearless" (one of my favorite Floyd tunes) and during the dogs on "Seamus".

...

Echoes was Side Two of Meddle.

Big Heavy Koss Headphones. Preferably in the Middle of the 70's.

Do you think it's something in the water up there? One of the top female jockeys in the world rides for Canada, Chantal Sutherland -- the athleticism required to control a 1500lb+ thoroughbred going 40mph would astound most people and she is a knockout:

I know it was side 2. Great song, I just like the clean sound from cassette (or CD now). But yeah, those old heavy headphones were great. ALL Pink Floyd is incredible that way. Ever listen to Black Sabbath's first album that way? I got an all new appreciation for Iommi from that even if the engineer is the one who mixed the stereo effects.

I cringe as much at the term "stinkies," as a do at "tooting."

And CDs? The kids today are missing out by not having every pop and scratch on an album memorized. I have CDs now that catch my attention when there isn't a pop where there is supposed to be.

We have a turntable and LPs. A few weeks ago, hubby and I were chilling on the couch, listening to some Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, enjoying cocktails and just relaxing. Our kids were in the living room with us. At the end of the album, my husband got up, flipped over the album and started playing the other side.
Our teenage son looked incredulously at us and asked, "You mean, you can play BOTH sides?"

I didn't get into Sabbath all that much. It wasn't bad, I just went for Mellower things. Like The Moody Blue or Yes.

Tom Petty used to have fun with that. On one of his CD's/cassettes, at the end of one of his songs his voice comes on saying something to the extent of "For those of you listening to this on cassette, you now have to get up, walk across the room and turn it over. (pause for a moment on CD or after pushing play on side 2) Thank You.

The Wildflowers CD had printed on it "Side 1".

A friend of mine has teenagers and one of her sons had a friend over. She asked the kid to get some ice and he just stared at the ice cube tray, unable to process.

Even so, you may be able to appreciate it on headphones for a at least a one time thing. The second half of the album has a lot of guitar work with no other instruments which keeps moving from speaker to speaker giving the feeling of a guitar duel. I'd give you a particular song name to try out on youtube but every release of that album seems to have a different lineup of song names and in the case of CD the songs begin at different points because it's more of overlapping and bouncing around on songs.

I like these puppies a lot. I was worried that the extra bass would make things sound distorted, but they actually perform the best with acoustic music. They are super comfy!

My current headphones are Sony also, but different model. There is something in Sony's circuitry that I like. Even without the music doing speaker tricks I love hearing classical guitar on on those. Andrew York is amazing if you like acoustical - elements of classical and jazz, if either of those are your thing. To start with him try the song "Sunburst".

I'm pretty much a classical fan these days.

That's a good piece, never heard it. Not enough symphonies that allow the cello to really do what it is capable of. I looked up information on that soloist, apparently 4 years after that she started having issues playing and was diagnosed with MS. Pretty sad.

Classical guitar is definitely different from most other music forms with the word classical in them. Perhaps it's the strong Italian influence . There were some composers like Paganini who wrote symphonies on guitar. Even those have a different element than most of what people know these days.

The song I mentioned (he doesn't actually get to that song until 2:13 - 2:15 and the opening song is not quite as good)

That is considered the best interpretation of that piece ever recorded. The conductor was her husband. There was a film made about her life with her sister (who is a violinist) called Hilary and Jackie based on a memoir written by her sister that all of her friends and her husband deny is accurate.
