Rash of buyer pays fees

In the classifieds what is with the sudden upswing of buyer pays "you know what" fees?

I started noticing that a little over a month ago. Started out with just a few peeps. Now it seems that a lot are doing it.

My suggestion. Go ahead and add it into your asking price. After all, since you want the buyer to pay it, it is part of the price the buyer is paying. Seems to me you want potential buyers to think it is cheaper than what it is.

Seller, do the math yourself.

Isn't motion carried next??? I know this practice puts people (me) off. Since I have never sold anything through PayPal, I have no idea of the fees involved so I just look elsewhere.

That what I do. I have bought several things using the classifieds. But as soon as I see that add on about "buyer pays fees" dude or dudette you have just lost my business. I do not care how interested I WAS in that mods or atty's, I click off the thread and move on.

Seems like a few months ago "use the gift" option was all the rage on the classifieds.

Sellers, you want to improve your shot with me, post a straight up classified ad. I got enough hoops in my plain ordinary life to try and jump through. Please don't add anymore.

If a seller does that, they've got to be pretty cheap. Currently PayPal charges less than a regular credit card processor would, and the charges are pretty minimal. On a $90 item, PayPal would take about $3.30.

I would skip the buyer, or send them an email informing them that they're out of their minds...

there are NO fees if you use a bank account (not a credit card), and mark the payment as a personal payment.
