Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!

I built this bad boy this morning and it has been working out well. I'm
Still fine tuning my trimming and getting the tails right but I'm getting better. There's definitely a learning curve in how to do it correctly.

Ok after looking through 30+ pages i figured out when i made this coil and wick lol..
Didn't take any pics before.. But here's after 5 days 40+ml's of various juices even some diy NET, vaped till dry for pics. I think i got the density right in the coil this time but think the tails need trimmed a bit, some backflow when wet. Also should i trim the top off? Sides? Bottom? When i rewick next, current build is from side and top

Wetted down with clear juice.

Oh yeah .6ohm dual twisted 30g, on my igoW/nemi

Has anyone used twisted coil wicked with rayon on a kayfun lite? It so what are the specs as to wire gauge,ID and ohms?how does it perform? Ive noticed quite a few people make these twisted setups. im curios to possibly give it a try i have plenty of kanthal 26ga, 28ga, 30ga and 32ga im just not sure what gauge to use.

IMO your tails are too thick. From what I have learned with drippers and rayon, you should be able to see the deck through the tails. Will it work with thicker tails? Yes. Will it work better with thinner tails? Absolutely.

I would leave the wicks alone since you are dripping. You could thin them out but is it reeeeeally necessary? I have been dripping for the past two weeks with no issues with the wicking in fatboy mode

Twisted wire is fun to do so that you can thicken up rather flimsy wire like 32 ga. I am using twisted 30/30 7 wraps around a precision screwdriver which yields about 1.5 ohms. Works perfectly on a regulated mod for me.

You can mix and match wires like I have some 30/32 twisted wire for S&G. Haven't built with it but it should have a higher ohm rating than 30/30 and lower than 32/32. Hth.

Do u happen to know the inside diameter is of the precision screwdriver is? If you have a small screwdriver set like me theres 1.4mm, 2mm, 2.4mm and 3mm.

Depends on the size The largest in Philips jewelers set is 3 mm. I don't know where mine are at the moment if I did I would put the calipers on the smaller ones. - Ugh!

I use about 2.5 mm drill bit.

Very cool thank you. Would you recommend hand twisting to make it or use a cordless drill to really twist that baby up? I think I'll try 30/30 first and start small and simple.

How does the air flow work with your igo (I have been tempted to try mine on rayon) with the lower ohms?

This may come off as an odd question but I figured I would ask...

I currently have the Magma with two strands of 30 gauge wrapped 9 times (3mm) which nets 1.8 ohms, two rayon tails into the drip well. Works great.

Question: How to wick this thing?

1. Could you do a single piece of rayon and put one tail on each end into the juice well, or would the coils in "the middle" dry up too fast?

2. Four independent single tailed coils?

Suggestions please!

This thing resembles IGO-W2 too much, I think I'm going to skip it...

Just received CCI Cloud Chasers 24 Gauge Flat Twisted Wire.

This 0.13 Ohms Madness is using Rayon and 0.0 Nicotine Juice at 105 Watts.

I'm going to try to use it in my Fogger...

.6 on my igoW with dual 3mm airhholes is great the smaller chamber and increased rayon skill (not a master of it yet.. Looong way to go still lol) has side lined my tobh for about a week :what: (dang thing leaks like crazy even with the tabs gone anywhos) :what: once i get bored, or dry fire burn my wick again :banghead:, im going to take it to the .4 range and thin them tails even more i guess lol. Heck 5 days without rewicking and dry burning coil is a personal best on a dripper.

I use the #0 which is 2.4 mm.

After three tanks with the new thinned wicks, the coil gunked up pretty bad....
I apologize for the blurriness, my hands shake pretty bad...





The gunk is 3D, it's so thick, you can make it out with your naked eye.
The second tankful was a cola/vanilla/cream mix, so the juice may be partially to blame.

I dry burned and rewicked, and it was spectacular for about 5 pulls, then the flavor & nic sort of diminished.
Feeling disconcerted, I pulled out the Squape clone that I had washed recently.
I threw a build on it, came out low - 1.1Ω - so the Vamo was out, had to put it on my KTS mech mod.
The Steam Engine Ohm's Law app puts it at 12.45W....
...and boomstick, nic hit me hard (~7.5mg). I could tasted the traces of flavor of my juice,
which for my recent DIY tests, I had dropped percentages way down, so I was expecting that.
I am getting intermittent dry hits, which is probably due to the wicking in the Squape
Anywho, a picture is worth a thousand blabberings:



I just trimmed the Squape wick, no more dry hits (blue arrow, where it says 'Second Trim')
With my 70/30 VG/PG juice, this thing is a fog machine!

I haven't given up on the Kayfun, there's more things to try...
-only test one juice at a time (i.e. is cola throwing off my observations?)
-maybe I need to drill out the airflow? Aren't Kayfun notoriously tight, stock?
-less wick. I haven't had ANY dry hits, and it does drain the tank- maybe I have just slightly too much wick...
-less power? I have run the kf consistently at 9 - 11 Watts. Any lower, less flavor/vapor, any higher and it just tastes funny
- full-on cleaning. Maybe I'm pulling machine oil from crevices?

How did you get coil wraps so perfect? The symmetry on this coil is flawless.
