Rayon wick, better flow, flavor, saturation and Nic Hit!

So, I had some 'organic cotton sheets' that came with something or another I bought... or maybe won in a raffle, I dunno... the point is that I took a quick look at one with 30x magnification. Yuk! There were some items that I would say could have been pieces of seed husks, but there was a lot of other stuff that I can't identify yet. The largest chunk reminded me of a sun-dried maple tree seed.

Since this sample is of unknown quality or origin, I'll pick up some better samples and get some pictures by/for this weekend. The difficulty will be in slicing off thin samples.

Let's just say that I have less desire to ever use this unknown sample than ever before... I'm not interested in vaping chunks of cotton seeds let alone the other things I saw in there.

Looking forward to some nice clean, high quality KGD to check out

Could you wet it, freeze it, slice it, then thaw and dry it?

That's something along the lines of what I will do... probably with a compressed gas to freeze it solid... rapidly... but some are quite tiny so securing them while slicing may be the issue. I figure I will also do some heat tests to see if they melt/deform or give off any tell tale odors as well.

I'm not in the business of exposing cotton or any sort of thing.. Just sharing a thought or idea I had that I kinda stumbled upon In some research. Unfortunately after seeing the particular thing i saw I can never forget it. Whether it can be substantiated or not its what I think of.. With an i, you have all the letters. Don't google pictures or you'll be scarred for life, like me. Lol

Oh and for the rayon deniers.... We have to buy from a medical supplier. Doctors have no issue, and when asked by one of our members about vaping with rayon, they said it was better than cotton.

I've been holding back on this one for a year.. Black specs in cotton under a microscope... what do think they are? I have a thought...

I opened up a new Lemo 2 yesterday and it had a couple of cotton pads in it (looked like KGD but I doubt it). Anyway I immediately noticed the black specs and took a magnifying glass to it... very, very bad mistake. I still don't know what the black specs are but I will swear on somebodies grave there were bug parts all over i.e. little pieces of legs you know the pieces you can see a knuckle joint and those little reverse hairs that insects have on the under side of their feet and legs.

It was so disgusting I wouldn't even open the zip log bag to get a closer look. Once I realized what I was looking at "body parts" the black specs identity became self evident.

PLEASE - I don't even want to know. That said it will be a cold day in He!! before I ever allow KGD in my house much less in my Atty. People worry about rayon - "Go Figure"

I have never seen anything in Rayon that gave me a moments concern save an occasion small knot (pill) and I sure as heck can live with that opposed to the KGD condiments'.

I don't want to bore anyone by recounting pedestrian experiences that have become "old hat" to you guys that been on this road for a while, but it's all new and exciting to me and I feel compelled to talk about it with people who will "get it".

So I got a couple pieces of vapemail yesterday. In one was the new 7 ml Subtank Plus. In the other was 4 bottles of juice from Nicoticket. I'd never tried Nicoticket before. I started DIY early on and spending anything more than 20 cents per milliliter just seems unnecessarily extravagant to me, but they were having a 50% off sale for new customers and I've heard lots of good things about them, so I couldn't resist giving them a try. Maybe I would get some inspiration for new creations of my own.

I did some due diligence and decided on Betelgeuse, Gravity, The Virus and Strawnilla...30 ml bottles with 18 mg nic (a little stronger than I mix mine (15 mg), but, in the past, I thought some vendors were lite on their nic levels).

So, anyway, I wicked up the included RBA with rayon on their factory installed .5 ohm coil and juiced up the tank with Strawnilla. Well crap! The first attempt was too loose and I was soon getting dry hits. On do-overs, I got it just about right, I think. The result was amazing.

The juice was good and flavorful and all, but the real amazing part, to me, was the nic hit. It was way too strong and keep in mind that I've been known to vape 36 mg in the not too distant past without blinking an eye. Now what?

I have 120 ml of juice that is going to be too strong and I don't want to dilute the flavor along with the nic by adding more base to it, So I just kept turning down the power until it became tolerable. I'm down to vaping this stuff at 8 watts on a .5 ohm coil and I'm still getting plenty of flavor, plenty of nic hit and plenty of cloud. That's impressive. Decent clouds at 8 watts? How is this possible.

I have to give some credit to the Subtank Plus, but unless this is the most amazing tank ever conceived, I have to think most of the credit has to go to the rayon

...and, of course, my incredibly mad wicking skillz.

There you have it. Yet another Rayonist testimonial you can quote as you go forth to proselytize and save the community from the evils of black specked cotton.

You only choice is to go back to cotton, aghhh.

Well you may be surprised how much flavor it holds diluted up to 50%.. These juices are not made for rayon so they usually have way too much flavoring. Try a little diluting with base to reduce the nic by 1/3... I think you'll still be happy with the flavor.

All my flavorings are 1/3 less than on cotton - across the board.

Yeah the nic really comes through with rayon, I had to cut back from 24mg to 18mg. Take a little of the juice try diluting it, I think you'll be surprised there isn't that much flavor loss. I mainly vape two juices, Uncle Junk's Jon Wayne #1 and Vaperoo Roobacco is my #2 juice. I make 45ml out of a 15ml bottle by diluting them, makes for some cheap vaping. Granted at that ratio there is some flavor loss but not as much as you would think. I love it that way and have been doing that for a long long time now.
