I'm not saying it's a good idea (though some people may prefer it that way), I'm saying coil placement is a factor in temperature.

That's because it decreases flavor. It doesn't cause any technical problems. If that solves it for him, fair enough.

Problem is simple, get a RDA with Side Airflow instead of bottom. Never once any of the RDA's I used with bottom airflow were exceptionally hard hitting, it just cools it off too much.

Have you even tried it on a different mod with the same power setting?

It's possible the mod/board is wonky. Can even happen with a brand new mod.
