Made a new coil with 2mm this morning, my first one, I made a micro-coil on a needle, probably a bit bigger than 1/16 because the 2mm wick was barely touching the coil, thus producing hot spots. Made a new one where I built the coil right on the wick, works great up to now, really no taste out of it, just the flavor.

My dual coil on another atomizer's not working properly though, trying the 3mm, how much wraps are needed on both coils? I wrapped around 6 times each coil and I'm at 1.2 ohms but even vaping at 9 watts it's barely producing any vapor. What am I missing?

Those of using mechanicals will be hitting a coil like that with about 15 watts.

I thought I would like the xc-116 / 132 a lot more than I thought I would.. overall somewhat disappointed.. I feel like it's not wicking fast enough for me to chain vape at 20+ watts, I do have to say though I feel like I get more of a nicotine buzz with this stuff than even cotton..

That happened with my very first build ...... then I started reading that the wraps need to be pretty loose so the stuff has room to swell. I can chain vape it for my 6-7 hits before I have to squonk the REO bottle again :)

I had to order the 3mm but only ordered 1 foot to try while waiting for the 2mm
I would get the 2mm ("slim") size, Laurin. I have ordered some that is coming tomorrow, so we'll see. That's about the same size I wrap. I have been using the Gizmo lately, but it makes coils about the same size as the 16 gauge needle.

Jeremy said he received new product on the 4th, but it still had to be treated, cut, & bagged. He said it will be shortly after Vape Bash. He is testing his treatment methods with this batch as the last he said could have been better treated... The testing takes like 2 days per test and that is what the big hold up is at the moment. It will probably be midweek next week that it will be ready to ship from the sounds of it...

On a different note, I was a little up in the air about the micro coil / XC combo and wasn't sure if I was really happy with it. For the life of me I couldn't get it into the .055 dia coils I was making with my home made wire gizmo. I did as was instructed earlier and torched it, cut the tip at an angle, and then threaded it into the coil. All was good until about half way through the coil and it would just like snag up inside the coil. After 4 or 5 failed attempts, I just gave up and built one of the old "ugly" coils, (28g 4/5 .91Ω), built on a 1/16" drill bit but with a doubled up wick instead of a single and have had a pretty good vape so far. The coil isn't as intense as a micro, but still seems to chuck the vapor. It is a much cooler vape than the micro coil. The doubled up wick seems to be saturated more and I can get 3-4 good hits out of it now as opposed to the 1-2 hits I was getting with the single wick micro coil, (1/16")... I will definitely be ordering some more when it becomes available and I will get some of the 3mm as well to do a little experimenting. I just don't feel the 2mm can hold enough liquid to keep up with the intensity of the micro coil. I think it is just too thin overall. Will report back after I have done some testing...

I've been using a 2mm wick for just a few days, not even a week, today I made a dry burn and decided to redo a coil on a 1/16 drill bit. Took out everything, torched the wick and it went as white as in the video of rbasupplies, was pretty cool, except the part where my coil was, it was a bit burned but not much.

What I noticed tho, is that the wick was "dissolving", very fine parts of it when rubbing it in the palm of my hands, I thought this thing wasn't supposed to do this. I'm concerned.

Worst part is that it just ripped apart in two while gently fiddling with it. I thought it was supposed to last a long time, not just a few days. It ain't cheap and I'm not impressed anymore. Maybe my coil was too tight on it and maybe my dry burn was too much for it, nonetheless this thing is fragile.

Meh, its still beats cotton, silica and ekowool so I made another wick...

I dropped this wick substrate into my existing coil 3 weeks ago and it's been great! I've done one full dry burn of the coil till it caught fire and all was clean as new when I finished. Never adjusted thing, coil looks new, wick is white as new and no off taste. This stuff is the business:) Very happy:)

I've actually had it separate when wrapping a coil. You need to be careful not to wrap the coil too tight. That is why I started wrapping the coil with a drill bit to support it. It is much more fragile than it is advertised to be...

I wrap coils on a 1.5 mm rod with the Wire Gizmo. Then I can mount the coil and get the 2 mm ready-wick to thread right in. This doesn't degrade or disrupt the wick in the least. When the coil is gunked up I dry burn with 5 sec pulses until the coil/wick quits smoking. Doing this the coil/wick lasts a long long time. Fiddling with the wick is what will make it fall apart. As long as I leave the wick and coil alone the wick lasts almost indefinitely.

I did try wrapping one free hand, and if you put much tension on the wire the wick gets cut up easily. But with the above method there is no problem with the wick falling apart or shedding.

Is it hollow? Like can I put my screw driver that I use to wrap coils in the center so I have a solid surface to wrap on? If not it's really not a huge deal, I can just put it beside each other and wrap coil around both.

Yes. I use my little hex key from my Hornet as it slips in perfectly WITHOUT stretching the sleeve. Then I just wrap and comes out the same as my 1/16" drill bit coil. Please note, whatever you slip in make sure it's not too large as you DON'T want to stretch, that will lead to falling apart easier.

Yepper, I use the large paper clip to slip in the 3mm before coiling.

This product has peaked my interest. If anyone wants to trade a 1" section of this for a bunch of the bamboo I just acquired, please PM me. I know this stuff is pricy, so I will pay postage both ways (by sending a SASE) and give you a few feet of bamboo. If not, that's cool too. No pressure; no worries.
