I find once installed and wetted with juice it no longer sheds. I believe those coils were wrapped to tight. It's hollow and I find if I put the mandrel down the center of the ceramic and wrap a spaced coil where the wraps don't touch I have no issue with needing to wait more than a minute or two on the first squonk. Most times I don't even wait a minute.

This is exactly my experience. I think opening up the middle with the mandrel is important for saturation. It's pretty tight and compact before you slide something through the middle of it. When I wrap a coil using the mandrel through the middle, and space the wraps, it wicks just fine immediately. I never notice any wait at all.

Ok, I read through this entire thread ............seems that this may be good stuff, obviously better than silica. My questions:

1) When I first began with ProTank coils, I noticed strands of silica breaking off. Moved quickly to cotton. Any issue with this using the XC? Any health issues using this?
2) Seems that this takes awhile to fully saturate. Does it make a difference between a brand new piece/build compared to a dry burn/bottle refill? Is it 15-30 minutes of sqwonking (sp?) to soak the wick or is it more like an hour? Using a BCC...at least there the juice is pulled down via gravity to self-saturate. Using a Reo...one has to feed the juice, so how much time is committed to this?
3) Most are saying it's better than cotton. However, I haven't seen any comparisons to Bamboo which appeared to be a topic of interest some time ago and the direction I was planning on going upon receipt of my Reo+RM2.

To be honest, I haven't wrapped a lot of coils with this xc, but I find that the best vape from it comes the next day after many hours of use. I use 28g and wrap 4 turns not touching each other like I would on other builds. About .8 ohms -1.0 ohm range.. I do use a small safety pin to wrap on.. YMMV

+1 - What he said.

back in my cotton days I remember having to wait and let the cotton absorb the juice. XC no wait time! Squonk & vape! It will get more flavor as the wick & coil get used for a bit.

I ordered 10 feet of it the other day and it said it didn't go through but I saw it asking my CC for it. Guess I'll see next week.

I figure 4 inches will last me about a year. 10 feet would last me until 2044. They could bury the unused portion with me :p

I have a XC132 wick that I made the end of Jan. this year and it's still going strong. At that rate it should last until I'm 116 years old or so. Good thing I quit smoking.
