Yes, I use the coil gizmo but it's 1/16 as well. Cut end at an angle, wet with a little juice and screw it in like your threading bolt into a nut. Pay attention to which way your coil wraps go and twist so it pulls it through.

For the shedding issue I only notice it shedding during the initial handling, I get no shedding after I place it and start vaping. I just give the rba a good blowing off before use.

Personally I think it's safer, that initial horrible cotton taste is coming from something I'm inhaling. This being heat treated to over 1600 degrees for 12 hours should burn off anything before I vape it.

I believe all of us in the community have an obligation as individuals to practice due diligence where our health is concerned. It stands to reason that we do. That's why we quit smoking a certain product regulated and approved by our federal government.

For me it's better, at least anecdotally - cotton irritates my lungs, especially when it gets at all gunky or burnt. I have woken up hacking and coughing the day after vaping with it. That doesn't happen with the ReadyxWick.

Steven, as part of a study I've been conducting of many types of wick I've been vaping ceramic braid products for nine months. I have 33 mods dude, and usually a half dozen variables with my daily vape I chain continuously throughout the day. I'm flavor sensitive and have circulatory issues which make it essential I maintain respiratory health. I found all media irritating when I initially began. Sometimes a change in media can prompt a reaction. I don't think that's unusual for anyone although many never encounter the sensitivity. I don't think ceramic is an exception in that sense. But it has proven not to be irritating to me at all.

That was a surprise given all the conjecture about it as many became interested in it last year. Reading back extensively I found a lot of folks were trying to save money buying the untreated, uncleaned direct commercial version of these insulation products. Not a wise move. It contains sizing agents which must be precisely neutralized and purged. There are two reliable responsible vendors presently for Nextel ceramic and one for Nextel braided silica that I'm aware of. They can easily be found online and I recommend them all.

But don't take my word for it. I am not a scientific (A)uthority. Please do your homework. Gather opinion from those experienced with these products as you are. Compare your situation, sensitivities and preferences. Check with others in the know on the science if/and as you may require. You'll be better for it and enjoy your vape more in the confidence that you have.

I do notice with cotton my lungs seem to feel irritated a bit.
I should just compare the 2 and see which one works better for me.
I didn't like the shedding mainly when I was using the nextel last year.
I actually felt like I had a piece of the ceramic in my throat stuck at one point but I don't see how that was possible.

Non-respirable MoN. And they can't lodge in human tissue. However, that doesn't mean not irritating. As I was kidding this very nice fella on another thread…so is beard scrub. And we've all inhaled a bunch of that in our lifetime. Body knows what to do with it though. Silica…ehhh. That I'm leary of. The stuff can be irritating though and plenty if you get enough on ya or the wrong place. Just ask the barber. But that don't stop me from going to the beach either 'cause the winds blowin'.

Germany you said? whattt? Just ordered for the first time some readyxwick and hope it lives up to its hype.

I've been using it for a few weeks, but it only took a few min to realize its superiority. I like being able to dry burn again

So I've been able to thread it through my 1/16 ( MM is a PITA for threading) we shall see if I notice a difference shortly

Can't wait to try it. Silica is ok, ekowool has always been nice but everyone on the reo side seems to use readyxwick so I had to pull the trigger.

Pretty pricey I have to say but I am sure it pays for itself.

I found after vaping on this stuff that my throat doesn't get irritated anymore as it did with cotton. I did a cotton build the other day to see if I was going crazy or not and went to bed. When I woke up my throat was kicking my .... I will probably not be using cotton for a good long while but using ecowick instead if I want to go the cotton route.

Ya I guess some of the cotton was burning too much. Don't get me wrong, the flavor I had with cotton is great but the feeling in the morning wasn't. Ecowick was much better in my opinion.

Based on everything I've read here, I bought a foot of 2mm and 3mm. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but no matter what I do, I end up with a foul, throat burning vape. Smells and tastes worse than cotton getting burnt. I started with 2mm first and couldn't get it to taste good. Figured maybe it wasn't getting enough liquid, so went to 3mm. I've wrapped microcoils, spaced coils, wrapping with a mandrel or bit inserted, wrapping first and threading the wick in, it's all the same. And no matter what, the flavor of the liquid just isn't there either. I've squonked, even flooded the deck, plugging up the air hole and let the liquid soak the wick. I might get on short hit, then nasty again. Any help would be appreciated.

pwheeler, I have had similar experiences with 2mm. I will be waiting to see what everone says. I even made sure that I wasn't compressing the wick, but it seems like it repels juice rather than wicks it sometimes.

i'm not sure i'm "doing it right" i make semi-ok micro coils on a 1/16th allen wrench to 1.4Ω and they've worked great in all my reos. so i bought the 2mm stuffs. i slid it right into my coil, it's definitely Not snug, if i give a lil tap on either side i can slide it easily, so i'm afraid that my coil is a hair too big/thick/wide/too big. lol.

however, i'm impatient, and read you should let them soak for like 15 mins in the juice.. yeah i squonked a bunch, and then vaped. i get a bit more gurgling/popping sounds than i normally do, but-i'm getting lots of vapor, and nice flavor. so, is it ok that the wick is just sliding right in, or should my coil really be a hair smaller? i did try to thicken up the wick by sticking a pin inside it before threading it, but it didn't really widen it hardly at all. i didn't want to fuss with it too much!

I haven't had any problems with wicking or any foul tastes from XC. In fact just the opposite!! My liquid has never tasted better from the first hit. The only problem I have had is the occasional, "doh", I forgot to sqounk it again!!! Though I will add, that dry hit is not even in the same ballpark of nasty as it was with cotton... It seems with the XC I have a better idea of when I need to squonk. It just has a different feel when it is getting dry. I hope you guys get whatever your problem is, ironed out...

Mornin' mia. The 132 (slim) braid isn't really 2mm. Lot smaller as you can see. A little hard to squeeze into 1/16" because when it's cut it spreads slightly. I would say yes, absolutely, try to wind on an actual 1/16" round diameter rather than a hex. It won't get any tighter but the hex may introduce small irregularities in the coil that might affect it's performance. If they are not consistent you may not see the best contact turn-to-turn from that microcoil. And I urge you to look for instructions on my method of tension winding which lets you produce one of these coils in seconds (no further torching, crunchy squeeze, etc. necessary). Also, the ceramic braid will S W E L L appreciably fully filling up that 1/16". In operation it actually fits quite tight so an even slightly broader diameter might be better for your vaping style and juice. The beautiful thing is now you have it and can experiment with those options.
