I am pretty sure I am sold on TC after my first try, regardless of the fact that I have 8 spools of kanthal I will never use.

My (only) TC mod is a limitless lux. I haven't been able to find much information about it's performance in TC mode, but even with my limited experience it seems to work great. The lux shows the wattage in 'real-time' in TC mode, which I find informative (and extremely consistent).

I would like to pick up a 'backup' mod, and have been impressed with what I have read about the dna options, until I read today that it does not display this 'real-time' information (unless connected to a pc?).

So my question is, can anyone recommend a high end TC mod that does display the watts in real-time?

Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome,
How will a real time watts display affect the vape?
When I push the button and suck, I can't even see the display. (nor care what it sez)

What is your budget?
Removable batteries or built in?
Max wattage? 75/150/200/300/400?
Battery size? (26650, 18650, Multiples? )
Color/style?

Cheers

It doesn't affect the vape, just shows what wattage my atomizer requires to reach a preset temp at any given time. That doesn't seem useful to you?

I can...the lux display is on top.

Interesting, novel, neat-o? Sure. But not useful to me.

How do YOU use that information?

But not to dilute the focus too much.

Well, given the fact that I am new to coil building, the mod shows me exactly what my build needs to reach (and sustain) my preset temperature. Perhaps in the future when I have more understanding of 'heat flux' and all that I can use a calculator.

But not to dilute the focus too much.

Well what I really want to know is if there are any other boards that have this capability...like for instance, when connected to a pc, does a dna device display this? The mod itself is somewhat irrelevant, I mean if there is a board that does what I want I will either find an enclosure I am happy with or make my own.

Your wattage or joules are static for the most part unless you are using a preheat or a custom power curve. As an example on my Alien the wattage will fluctuate maybe -5W to +2W from the setting but that is the chip compensating for 2 things changing. Temp limit and resistance changes.

I don't find the wattage informative at all. You need to get your base settings set and let your tongue provide you the information you need for dialing it in. If you are still really really concerned about the numbers a DNA device with Escribe Research and Device Monitoring will provide you more data than any device can produce on a tiny screen.

Once I get the TC set up for my tank, coil and juice I rarely change anything unless I change the tank or juice.

Here is the manual for escribe....

Pico and VTC mini plus Arctic Fox firmware will do it. I fiind real time watts and temp too be very useful.

I have mine set to 45 watts and 420 degrees (F), depending on how hard I pull it will drop as low as 12 watts and bounce around everywhere in between. This is my first set of coils, and although I used the calculator and my ohm reading was spot on, the calculator suggested 65 watts and I think that is way too high. I get a moderately warm vape at 45.

Thanks for the pdf, it looks as though even if a dna device doesn't show this info in realtime you can graph a session, which would be adequate....confirmation would be nice, google is failing me on this question.

Thank you so much, this is hard for me to explain, I'm glad someone understands.

Arctic Fox is a free download. It took me some time to understand the features and how to adjust them. These days i can adjust everything with the buttons on the mod. I think now I wouldn't own a mod where I couldn't see the max temp and max watts after each puff.

I agree, it seems very useful to me as well. Just by watching what mine does at whatever temp has taught me much more about my coil than the calculator did, and the consistency hit to hit is why I am sold on TC.

Been eyeing the pico, lots of people seem happy with them, and it's too cute to not get one.

A Wismec TC100 with stock firmware will display real time temperature AND watts while the fire button is engaged.

I may be of the opinion that these displayed values are of little use to me I can see how others might find it useful.

(the Lux might be large but it has longer run time than anything else in my mod stable)

Mods that use Arctic Fox will do this. The DNA series will show that on the display if you configure it in Escribe.
I use the device monitor from time to time to troubleshoot a tank or a coil that isn't performing as I think it should.
I also note that the wattage required to keep a temp is way less than the wattage to ramp the coil. But setting the wattage to a lower number doesn't work because the coil takes too long to reach the temp if I do.
Playing with settings while having a way to monitor is good for learning and dialing in a mod/tank/coil.
