Tonight I started getting vapor that was really harsh on my throat. I cleaned the atomizer and that helped a little but then it went back to being harsh again. I switched the atomizer and noticed that the one that was producing the harsh vapor was also drawing easier then the new one. Are these two things related? Is my atomizer starting to go? Any help would be appreciated.

might have just broken it in then

Broken it in? But it's producing the same amount of vapor as the one that I just opened tonight. The only difference is that the older one is drawing a bit easier but producing very harsh vapor. And this isn't a "nice throat-hit" kind of harsh, it's very uncomfortable harshness and ruins the experience. I'm really glad I had a spare otherwise I would have went back to smoking analogs. It's still functioning though so I'm really hoping there's a way I can fix this.

Which device you using DC ? And how did you clean your atomizer (what with) ?

I know with my Dura I have yet to physically clean either of my atomizers.

I use two atomizers in one week rotations & every night I separate the components, lightly blow thru the atomizer from the battery connection end, and place it coil down to drain.

I also blow lightly through the fake ash end of the disconnect battery then put it in a small glass (connection end down) with a piece of paper towel in the bottem to drain, and give the connection threads a wiping the next morning.

I've found when the device starts giving off a harsh or strange taste (more so after the battery has gone through the multi flashing cleaning cycle), that its due to overheating and not wicking the liquid properly from the wadding.

I'll usually top up my cart often (making sure the stuffing is flush with the cartridge casing end nearest the atomizer), add a drip to the atomizer and puff a few times without inhaling. This seems to clear it up after that.

I'm using the RN4081, I clean my atomizer by holding it under really hot water with tweezers for a few minutes on each side.

It's not because the liquid isn't being wicked properly, because I've been dripping.

It's possible that it is overheating, but I'm not vaping anymore frequently now then I have been since I started.

I don't know what else to comment DC......

It could be overheating if after cleaning you've not dried your atomizer completely. It would create "steam" that would definately dry it out quicker and generate more heat.

This is also why I don't consistantly drip, even though the taste and vapor is much more satisfying I simply don't want to create the need for cleaning maintenance required for the atomizer. I think there's a reason for that coating on the mesh and I don't want to wash it off.

Hopefully someone more experienced than I can pipe in on this and help you out.

Best of luck.......

I thought the coating was just some 0-nicotine e-juice? From what I've read here it seems a lot of people regularly wash their atomizers with hot or sometimes even boiling water.

The harshness is a lot like the harshness you get when you run out of liquid and the atomizer gives you that dry harsh kick. Except a lackof e-liquid isn't the problem, because I'm getting this even with a fresh drip.

I know what you mean about the harshness.

my experience and fix is different though.

when it happens, I pull the cartridge (Janty Dura) and blow
gently into the atomizer....I hear a sizzle and see some smoke.....

I repeat this just until I see a little glow from the atomizer then
I drip the cartridge or top it off and get good smooth smoke
from then on.

I don't know why it does it sometimes, but thats how I consistently
get rid of the harshness.

that harshness for me is kinda like direct inhaling (sucking in) an analog.

For me the harshness was worse then direct inhaling an analog. I can't get the atomizer to heat up by blowing into it though. I'm afraid to blow to hard because I don't want the e-liquid going into the battery, but I thought only inhaling activated the switch in the battery.

I know escatly what you mean, one of my pilot atoms started to get real harsh on my throat almost like a pepper burning sensation, I'm not sure if I fixed it or just changed atomizers. You can keep the atomizer going a number of ways. If your ecig is sensitive enough blow on the ash end, (not all will work this way)
The second way is to get a scavenged battery end cap and solder on two wires, pos to the center and neg to the rim, connect it to a 4-5v power source (3-4 aa batteries or usb) and let it burn till it glows a little.
Hope this helps

DC the same thing happened to me early this morning.

Its like vaping acid and tastes disgusting.

Not 1 but 2 atomisers are doing this, both RN 4075B.

They are not new, I know they burn hotter than the 901s but they are getting a lot hotter than any RN type I have had before and they were not like this last time I used them.

I use a screwdriver so it is not a battery issue or self clean.
Also not a fault with the Screwdriver switch as I have 2 SDs and they do it on them both.
Am using a RN 4075s at the moment and it is performing fine.

Never had this happen before.
