the phoenix atomizers are amazing, this effectively replaces hh357 atties as the best dripping atty. i was not impressed at all with the vivi tank.

but back on topic with the phoenix, they are a little small for the wire holes and screws but i must say the performance is awesome. when i got the unit i instantly ripped off the coil and replaced with kanthal and a new wick(hate nichrome!!!) for any of you wondering the best way to wrap a new coil i use a small finely threaded screw, then fold a wick in half and feed it through the coil. there is only one bad thing i have noticed about the phoenix though, it leaks a bit by the threading, i think it needs a beefier o-ring.

i own a zenesis(my favorite of all rebuildable) and i must say this phoenix is awesome!! next i will try this with mesh and see how it works. so far this is the best thing i have seen come out of china!!

I have SS mesh wrapped on some old orion wick(fat stuff whatever it is) and it hits as good as most of my rebuildables and wicks well too.

I've got some 400 mesh coming as I think I need to experiment with that wrapped around the wick to help, Most of the Phoenix style I havent had much luck with as the position of the air and also being able to move it is critical in dialing in for whats best for each person..So far I've found I get mostly TH and not much vapor. I saw a vid from Optimo where he shows a newer XL style Pheonix style rebuidable that has a ring on the bottom part of the threads that you adjust so you can change where the air-hole is when you screw the top part back on (where the air-hole is) This will be a must imo in order dial in every RB to everyones likings..But currently I haven't been impressed with any phoenix style so far..

I agree with Matrix. I get massive throat hit with average vapor on the Phoenix. That said, I just ordered a bunch of Nichrome/Kanthol wire and Silica wick. Hopefully, this will be much better than the stock wick/wire it came with. Overall, I feel the Phoenix is well worth the price. As for performance, I need to get better at making coils...this will improve over time.

Moved this over here about the SVC Rainbow RBA:

Ok, So Craig is right about the 2nd smaller hole, it ends up being smaller than the reg air hole and is located in the groove 2nd one up from the bottom. The bottom part where the smaller 2nd hole, on the inside it ends up being right at the top of the threads that screw onto the base. (to hard to show in the pic). Because of this it ends up being about 1mm from the bottom of the base (when screwed on) that would hold the extra wick and act as a reservoir.

The factory coil that came with this came in at about 2ohms, I have no leaking yet but I also havent't put more than 5-6 drops in at a time. So back to that 2nd small hole-They had to have put it there for air-flow and if so the Rainbow RB isn't meant to be used like the Pheonix where you can put 15-20 drops and fit the extra wick down in the reservoir..this one is not meant't for that...

You could prolly plug that smaller hole on the bottom with a dab of crazy glue or something and then you could prolly fit 10-15 drops and have no leaking. This is ALOT different than the Pheonix and doesn't seem to be designed to use the same way either. I'm ok for using this Rainbow RB this way 5-6 drops at a time and use for tasting new juices before I tankem:). Throat hit is good and taste is fine and because of that 2nd air hole I am getting better vapor,
TH and taste compared to the Pheonix one I have that has one air-hole and has a reservoir for 15-20 drops...But I haven't tryed the mesh with that one yet.

So I've been toying with the Phoenix for a week or so now and can't get it to perform as I expected. I'm not new to rebuildables. I have a Penelope and Odysseus, plus I've tinkered with some Genesis style rebuildables as well.My problem is, I'm getting an insane, burning throat hit. I've even tried juice at half my normal nic strength and it's tearing me up.

Someone suggested that I move the coil, but I'm not sure if they meant push it down or pull it up to taper the throat hit. Also, I think boring out the air hole to maybe 1/16th or 3/64 might help. Any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks everybody

I've been using the Phoenix now for over 3 weeks and LOVE it! I've been a dripper for almost 2 years and this is the best vape I've enjoyed in that time.
IMHO it beats the HH357 and Cisco LR306 attys that I've grown to love. Finally I'll be able to save some money with this rebuildable dripper!

Once I got my Phoenix I pulled off the silica-wick atty and tried this Stainless Steal method and haven't looked back! I've had to play with the coils a bit and have had best luck with 5 tight coils (close to each other) around the SS which stands up, out of the cup. I run the bottom wire-end through the lower post-hole, but with the taller post I wrap it around the screw and tighten. Works great!

When I start to lose vapor and still have juice in the cup, usually after a day of heavy vaping, I take the Phoenix apart and run the parts under warm water. The SS and coil stays connected to the posts, but I rinse this part off under a light stream of warm water also and shake excess water off. I then connect it to my PV and dry burn until the coils glow red. I do this a few times to both remove the water from the SS and also to burn any crud off the coils. I then assemble, add 6-8 drops of juice and I'm vaping again and it usually tastes as good as a new coil! These daily cleanings seem to help to keep the juice wicking.

So far I've been using the same SS wick piece and coil for over a week and am testing to see how long it'll last. I may try a combo of SS and silica wick with a coil down the road, but so far the method I linked to above has worked perfectly for me. It's hard to believe that such a small piece of SS actually wicks well to the coils without a real "wick" added, but the SS really does the job by itself. I just ordered more wire and SS mesh from Stormy's to play around with and I'll report back here if I find a better method.

Supposedly the Phoenix XL will be hitting the U.S. market soon and I can't wait to try this design with more (and needed) room between the posts.

I wonder if Stormy's will be selling the Phoenix XL in the near future???
