From left to right, they are Quilted maple, Australian red mahogany, Stabilized birch burl & quilted maple, Quilted maple, Spalted red maple & mahogany, Bloodwood & quilted maple, Curly maple & black walnut and finally Cocobolo & African Mahogany.

Isn't that quilted maple to die for? I especially like the bodies made completely out of it. A small batch but an awesome batch, great choices by the buyers. arrr

Aww yeah,#4 is real nice,the square button just fits these RSM's.Its a tanker too,right?Some old salt will be gettin a work of art made of wood.

Heh.... no comment on that ...


The button though, yeah, those new dna only buttons are awesome. I've actually thought about limiting the dna models to only that switch but some people really want the old ones. The new ones feel great and it always makes easy contact without having to push hard even when it's been pushed thousands of times. I use the first prototype Cutlass12 I made and it has that switch, how long has it been now, since the beginning of the year? I have never had a misfire or fail to fire with this switch, I just love 'em.

Ahoy me 'earties!

It's nice to just sit and sip coffee. Now that the batch is complete more or less, the pressure is off and I can kick back for a few days.

Already a couple pre-orders in on the Cutlass20, nice wood choices too and it will be a pleasure to build them.

I guess I better use this time and do equipment maintenance and get ready for batch#25 ...

so I got this panasonic NCR18650PD battery. And I tried to put it on my cutlass 5.1 to try unregulated mode.
I had to put multiple magnets because the chamber was too tall for this battery. I happened to have some rare earth magnets I got from ebay(thin, large, and brushed) and used several of them(like 6) to make contacts, checked the voltage without atty(showed 4.1v), then screwed on the A7 with dual coil setup of 1ohm, then fired it while reading the meter... then it was showing 3.2v?!?

Weird... because the discharged current according to the ad where I bought this(FastTech) is supposed to be 10A.
So I tried the different magnets, 3 of the ones I got from cappy(thicker, smaller, and shiny), and check the voltage under load and this time it's showing 3.6v. Little better, but still not good. Off load voltage was still showing 4.1v.

So it looks like the type and number of magnets contribute to current transfer. I wanted to try without magnets but I don't know what I can use to fill the gap with. I want to know whether it's the battery being not good enough or it's purely the magnets' fault, or both.

Here I thought I was gonna take it easy today, but I recalled that I needed to make bottles so that blew the rest of my day. Got 100 bottles made and ready for the next few batches though!

All I need to do is wait for the finish to dry, wax the mods, put the kits together, print out instruction brochures and ship the little ladies off to their new homes. Yay!

I finished all the final assembly with no failures. Yipee!!

I decided to bite the bullet and put the final coat of finish on them now, give them an extra half day to dry and give that Monday shipping plan all the help I can.

Time fer a shower (yes, I bathe), and relax for a bit. Later all, arrr

Due to questions about the quilted maple pictured above, I would like to say that the wood is smooth to the touch irregardless of what it looks like in the picture. It is kinda like a hologram, it looks 3D but it is actually smooth to the touch.

Ahhh, so thats what it is. I was wondering why people were bothering to try for such a low ohm setup. Well, I think I will stick with my 2 ohm setup, it's worked for me so far and if it works, why fix it.

I just rebuilt a coil that was working fine today as well. Always gotta tinker. Might just find something better, never know right?

I've been using the new "micro coil/cotton wick" thing going around for a while now. 10 wraps of 28 ga gets about 1.5 ohms. Sub ohm performance at regular resistances, very nice!
