Ahoy! Happy Monday me 'earties.

Today will be the last day for pre-orders. I spent the weekend working on desk caddies mostly and two new caddy orders came in that I decided to do along with the others, so I will be spending today hand sanding all of them and shipping them tomorrow. I don't like going into a new batch with desk caddies pending if I can help it.

Cappy I am not sure if it is wax on my new cutlass but whatever you finished it with it just looks and feels better in the hand. I was assuming it was wax. Either way is whatever you used something you would recommend to re apply whenever the finish starts to fade?

BTW why are you discontinuing the Cutlass VV with display? If it isn't prying to much to ask. It is really a great mod.

Well, the Cutlass using the DNA20 will be nearly an inch shorter, lighter, still offer 20 watts of power, be variable wattage which is so much easier than VV and have all the features of the DNA20 board and still cost the same amount.

I suppose I don't have to stop offering the Cutlass II, but I was thinking the Cutlass20 could just replace it for people wanting more power to the atty.

As for wax, before shipping I put on a couple coats of Carnuba wax using a buffing wheel. It takes an extra half hour per mod to wax them, but people seem to like the pictures I take better when they look shiny even though it is temporary.

Thanks for the info on the wax. I may just wait and see before I make the decision. Not sure if I want to try putting my 5.1 to a buffing wheel :D

As for the DNA 20 vs VV board I can see what you are saying and if it streemlines the process I can completely understand ousting the VV board. However I am curious about the battery life of a DNA 20D powered mod vs the VV. My limited experience with Evolve boards (3 versions of the kick) shows for me a max battery life of about 6-7 hours. Both of my Cutlass's with 2 year old AW IMR's will go a whole day no problem (or 1 bottle whichever comes first). I don't doubt the DNA20D model will be more popular. (Heck when money permits I will probably pick one up). But I wonder if there are enough people like me who really like mods that will go all day (even for a moderate vaper) without any battery changes.

Just some food for thought.

Received my first rsm today - australian mahogany cruiser 2. Very nice, can't believe the way the panel grain shimmers in the light, pictures can't do it justice.

I'm in for a dna20 when they are available.

My dna20 battery life varies a lot. I like 13 - 15 watts and shoot for .8 - 1 ohm, sometimes miss by a few tenths of an ohm. Some days I can go 12+ hours on one 18650 orbtronic 2900 mah, other days I kill two batteries and start on a third before I head to bed.

Ahoy!

Well, I have no first hand experience with the DNA20, but there has to be some data and/or experienced users out there that have some answers concerning battery life.

On a side note, we've gone from swapping batteries every couple hours with the old pen-styles to discussing how to get over a days use out of one battery so even if there is a small step back with the DNA20 it's still a whole bunch better than it used to be!

:D

Anyone have any hard data on battery life of the DNA20 in comparison ?

I hear ya on the battery swap. The thing I really love about my RSM battery life though is if I go out for the day all I need to grab is my RSM. Other mods I need spare batteries sometimes juice ect. When I am home I don't mind swapping batteries a few times a day.

Again I will be getting a DNA20 Cutlass as soon as I possibly can. I don't mean to put it down. I just like to question the unknown.

I was getting around 2 hours, about 1-1.5ml juice out of a AW 18490 at about 12W on some 1.5-1.8 ohms coils. That's why I really think that anything under the 18650 size would be useless. I guess we could get a whole day out of 2 2200mah batteries, but if you can fit a 26650...now that could probably last a whole day (thinking about the 4000mAh king kong for example).

Battery liffe with DNA20 can be short it is true, but of course it depends on the power selected and the resistance used.
For me the problem is the cutoff for Evolv products :
"3.2 volts under load. Unloaded, that number will change in the range from 3.4-3.6."
It happened to me to see than i had to change battery at 3.7-3.75v instead of the 3.4-3.6 range...but also with the dna12.

But i now just use boxs with dna20 and won't change till we have a product more performing and easy to use and read (screen).

Have you guys had any experience with NCR18650PD? Looks like it can handle 10A and it's 2900mah too. Not that I will ever need more than 5A(maybe if I use DNA and such? I don't know) but it's nice to have something I can use on any PV while not sacrificing too much mah.

I took my double 18650 cree flashlight on a camping trip few days ago just to realize this Ultrafire 18650 4000mah(gold cover) batteries I had inside were complete rubbish. Then I looked up in a review site and the real mah was more like 2000 plus some rapid voltage drops as a bonus.. The flashlight died in like within an hour of low power setting.
oh well, I paid like a buck for two at ebay anyways... :)

Ahoy!

Almost time to quit for the day, wheee! Got everything done that I wanted to do.

I have a few of the CGR18650CH and they work very well. I also have a few of the Efest 18650's, they last ok but nothing great. I heard that panasonic was discontinuing the CGR18650CH? I wonder why...

For something else and because i use 1Ω coils all the time really - i got some rebadged Panasonics - here.

NCR18650PD High Drain Panasonic 18650 2900 mAh Li-ion Battery free shipping from Florida

They last me all day and i am fierce with them. They will tolerate a constant 10A discharge, and pulsed (e.g. - when i vape) up to 18A.

If you use reasonable coils then you maybe don't need them. I'm not a battery expert, but i have heard similar things about MNKEs too. I only recognise the Panasonic number because i think my wife has one in her eVic, but she'll come round to my way of thinking!

Top job Cappy - i got today a nice friendly call from the dentist - BE THERE! lol. Such is life.

In my understanding while these 'Panasonic 18650' batteries may have genuine panasonic button cells inside, the actual assembly of 18650 is done by unknown or little known third party company, most likely Chinese. That's what concerns me, especially the protected ones, because no one knows the origin of those protection chip inside. Panasonic never manufactures 18650 batteries as far as I know.
