Madness....

I order my voltage displays from Hong Kong and I got many from a different vendor this time as they were a bit cheaper. Today the mail lady knocked and delivered this big basket full of small fist sized plastic packages. What??

They all turned out to be voltage displays individually wrapped in foam and plastic bags. 50 of them, individually wrapped.... any profit they made they blew in shipping...

If you all start getting your mods wrapped in foam its just me trying to use up all this packing stuff!

Madness .....

Yeah it's pretty amazing how cheap things can be china. My ebay order of 10x button cell alkaline batteries + 5x button cell lithium batteries + 20x rare-earth magnet spacers arrived yesterday and they were $4.50 altogether, shipping included... How on earth???

The only blue county in Texas!
And bumping some info. I'll also bump the pics of wood examples for ya.

Time to post the newest FAQ to answer some of the usual questions I receive regarding RSM;

Website is Red Sky Mods - Home

Most of the mods I build are preorders. During the ordering process you will be shown a picture with all wood and hardware choices available for the batch.

Some very exotic wood choices will increase the base price of the mod. Additional costs are indicated in the selection pictures.

After making your choices, PM me what you desire and we will discuss it and clear up any questions.

Typical construction time is currently about 2-3 weeks once I get started depending on the size of the batch.

Custom engraving is available. The work area for engraving the Cutlass is 1.5" wide and 3" tall. Engravings are limited in detail to the level of a dull pencil drawing, I will reject any image too complex.

Engraving adds a flat-rate of $35 to the base price of the mod. I may require your mod to be prepaid if you request unusual or personalized engravings.

Notify me if you want a Desk Caddy fitted to your mod size included with your order. Sizes and prices will be posted on the website.

Available models for pre-order will be listed at the time of ordering.

Available models are described on the main page of the website. The website also features some video demonstrations and a gallery of past PV's sold to good homes.

All mods are shipped Priority mail and insured.

All mods have a 7 day money back, 3 month warranty on parts and labor. If I can't fix it I will also either refund your money or build you a new one to replace it for warranty problems.

After construction, if your ordered mod fails final testing for any reason, I will contact you explaining the difficulty and remake you another mod during the construction of the next batch.

Basic troubleshooting tips:

If your RSM fails to fire, things to check.

1. Did you recently adjust the voltage? The voltage display needs a minimum of 2.7v to light. Turn CW to increase the voltage.

2. Does the display work without an atomizer connected? The atomizer may be shorting out the regulator.

3. Are the batteries tight? You may need 1 or 2 magnet spacers. Place them on the positive (raised) end.

4. Is the RSM battery tab clean? I have received several 'dead' mods where either wax, dried juice or other contaminations have caused it to fail. I simply scrape them clean and send them back.

5. Are the switches making good contact? Try switching them back and forth with the 'Fire' button pressed.

6. Are you pressing the "Fire" button too weakly? Don't stop pressing when it clicks, press a bit harder until it stops for good contact.

Of my last 8 returns, 6 are covered by the above reasons. Costs us both shipping charges :(

I think some of this info may be changed by batch 10 but at least you can get an idea.

(Reposting with corrected pictures)

Ahoy, here are the available choices for Batch #6.

Once production begins I am estimating 12-14 days to completion if there are no delays.

Base price of the Mark 5.1 Cutlass is $179. Certain wood choices may add to that price and are indicated in the Main Body Wood picture if so.

When the build is complete and they have passed final testing I will post pics of the completed mod and if you approve I will send a Paypal invoice for payment.

Choose Main body wood, end cap wood, Hardware type and edge (round or octagon) and PM me your choices. I will confirm and put you on 'the list'.

Arrrr, blast and bother! One of the E-mail orders failed final test. Looks like the VV board is dead so I will have to cut off the end cap and make another. A HUGE reason I wish to get changed to the side panel access method.

Anyway, I'm uploading a bunch of final pics of the rest of the mods, they all were good girls and passed without problems. Next post... pron ! Yo ho!

I am only liking the second half of that, Cappy. ;)

Me too, this is the second batch in a row I had to replace a end cap, as if you didn't know, lol

arrrr.... Had to start the upload again, for some reason photobucket hangs on the last pic sometimes

Well I can speak from experience when I say that whoever is having their endcap replaced is on some levels quite lucky, because I frankly can't get over how smashing my endcap looks with the contrasting grains. At a distance, you can't even tell, but upon close inspection it looks... Amazing. I love it. Totally worth it.

Although I hate to think of you having to do more work rather than taking a much deserved break. :(

Nicely done! Sallie is going to be pleased I think! That first ziricote is gorgeous! Well, they're all gorgeous but that ziricote is especially gorgeous! What are the endcaps on that one?

Gabon Ebony, several have that this batch, was pretty popular.
