Ahoy Mates. I think I will probably do what I have the most fun doing and thats playing with designs today, so I get something done and have fun at the same time. Then it feels more like the hobby it was supposed to be :D

I guess I could post a pic tonight, once the basic sanding is done so you can get an idea of what I'm up to.

Have fun, one more afternoon to take it easy then back to work for all you Mon-Fri workers, heh

with the craftsmanship that has been displayed so far, I couldnt help but order one of the diy kits. I truly hope to have money in the near future for a real piece of his work, but that will be a bit down the road. There is a ton of beauty that has been displayed in these pages- and I have read every single page and looked at all the pics. Astounding work is all I can say. One day I will get one for my father as well, think he would freak on how sweet they are.

great work Brian, the diy kit has fallen within my budget. I appreciate all the effort that you have shown to make your work available to us. As well as the great bargains we get as ECF members. thanks again

My pleasure dejo. I have been told from the first mention of a DIY kit for wooden mods that It would be popular, that alot of people were waiting for something just like that. Guess they were correct, nothing like vaping on something that you built with your own two hands.

Hey Brian, What glue should I use for the box and for the battery contacts?

There will be assembly instructions but the best would be a wood glue for the box caps and epoxy or superglue for the battery tabs and switch.

yeah?
Can the mod be assembled without any finish work other than a light sanding?A square, bottom fed, rustic mod fits a pirate
Arrr.

It needs sanding to clean up the edges and routes and to make it fit together correctly. As per the picture, its been cut but no sanding has been done, so you could do as much or as little as you wanted. You can shape the edges to anything you want or leave it square. I left it up to the builders imagination.

Looking nasty outside, we have a bad weather coming our my way?

Batten down the hatches lads, storm be a brewin, arrrr....

Just ordered a Kit :) 3.7v 3ml bottom feeder. Will be ordering the 6ml one when available.

Suggestion: It would be cool to have a down loadable PDF for the instructions.

Thanks, got your order. There will be a down loadable version posted in the next day or so, before the kits I'm shipping today arrive. Time .. never enough of it...

Hi Drottwiler! The cedar looks great, but it IS a real bugger to work, delicate and light. Very pretty.

Heh, time... when I have enough of them cut out and ready to supply the kits, I wish to have some of each type on hand so customers don't have to wait too long before I can ship them.

I sent one Mark-IV kit out as a prize today, it won't be long until I release the kit itself.

I agree, smells great, fills the whole house with a christmasy smell, heh

It works and shapes nicely, but it does chip extremely easy and is rather soft and fragile. I think I understand why other builders won't use it. I think I will add a note to the invoice that they must be very careful with it, it will break easier than other types of wood I use, and if it breaks I will replace it but with a Different wood of their choice. Time will tell I guess.

Ok, back to work ....

Hi again me merry mates, time to take a short break.

Finished course sanding of the Buccaneers, next I put on a coat of finish to seal the wood and expose any sanding defects.

Here is a picture of the whole batch I took last night, right before they had course sanding, final routing and such.

And here is a pic of the first four after that was done and a single coat of finish was applied.

Big difference already eh? Let's see, the first two are preorders, the third is mahogany and cebruva I think, and the last is a Padauk box with Yaya end and inlays that was a preordered that was canceled. He wanted rounded edges and offset atty then he decided he didn't want it at all! lol

The bench sander was heating up really bad, so instead of more work on the mods, I have to stop and tear it apart. Probably just needs to be cleaned/oiled ... sigh...

Happy monday you sea dogs, Yarr!

Good evening everyone! I like the smell of cedar too, I was wondering about how strong it would be myself. I'm sure it's pretty and will smell good when you vape it. Looks like you've been busy, Brian. So much for taking the weekend off...
The Buccaneers are looking very tempting, I better be careful looking, gotta watch the budget! I'm still going to try to get a DIY kit for by brother in the near future.
