Yeah im gonna get a kit as much as Id love to grab that Paduak/Wenge premade one. Its beautiful

Wife would kill me if I spend more than 100 bucks lol

Arrr, I feel ur pain. You wanna give me half when it's ready and the other half when u can afford? I'm not a corporation just an overgrown hobbyist with delusions so that would be fine with me Ruppy.

Arrr what thinks everyone of this one?

Removed pic to save bandwidth its in the quote of this post below :)

Got a little question before I get busy in the shop. So far I've rounded, semi-rounded and beveled the edges of the box but I wonder what else might be done in the way of style. I tried more complex cuts but they didn't improve the looks in my opinion. I also thought about gouging finger grips on a lathe, but thats already being done by a guy who I consider one of the few competitors who actually knows how to work craft wood and I refuse to steal his thunder.

Any ideas? I am liking the simple bevel more and more and have not made many rounded over edges lately.

As always, input appreciated even if not acted upon :)

Without holding one and just looking at the pics, The bevel edges seem to give more character than the rounded.

It's funny you say that about the finger grips . I'll be putting that on mine since I am making it for myself no one can say anything about it (boom in yo face loose gum people ) you hear me ? Mark my words my DIY will take a little bit from everyone to make my personally bad clasp bottom feeder. Shoot I hope I put feeder when I sent in my order forum ? Cause that's what I want

I kinda like the rounded myself.. but if I order another, I'm good with paying a little extra for the rounded to match my other two Red Sky mods. Wait.. I have a 3rd that I haven't opened! LOL! I've been meaning to do a video that I promised you! Crap.. I traveled most of the month of April and set it aside. Guess I need to break out the video equipment.

Nothing say's pirate like a wench / or a ship/ or skull and bones / treasure chest/ or the bow of a ship with a wood carving of a women.

I wonder where I could buy or have made a piratey logo. I could brand the back side or bottom ... hmm ..will try to source something like that when I get some time. Some day I could get a laser etcher but those buggers are not cheap. Sigh...

Even a small logo made out of metal, as long as it was flat on the back side, about 1/10" or so thick, I could cut a inlay pocket and mount it like I did the recon stone. Hmm, more possibilities.

What the dimensions of the bottom ? Need to know what size brand I'm asking for , and metal inlay very cool

Bottom width is 1" and length 2.6", realistically a 3/4x3/4" brand would probably be max due to the small size of the box.

Yo Ho Ho and a box of parts! It's here!! Yippee! (ok, that was not so pirate) Oh, this is very pretty wood, and will be so much fun. Hopefully I will get a day off to get started here before I leave for Georgia.

Who else has their kit? Did you start yet? Tell all!

Happy pirate here.:party:Bring on the grog!
