I try to buy anything 6/4 or bigger (1 1/2") then cut it down to block size then start forming the body pieces from that. It needs to be at least 1" thick for even the smaller scallywag so that limits my wood selection for bodies to only thicker pieces of wood, else I would have to cut panels and glue them in place or go back to the 'back door' style which I worked to get away from.

has to be at least 1.5 inches thick im guessing 4.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide minimum. Brian could say for sure.
