I do it every couple weeks, sometimes every week. Depends if they start to look dry to me.. problem is I'm OCD when it comes to
mods. they have to be as perfect as possible...
Break time. Just finished putting the last of the epoxy on the mods, I might actually be able to ship tomorrow.
As for the finish, I've been using satin polyurethane since I started making Mark-2's. I tried using tung oil (which is actually varnish as no 'tung oil' sold is actually really tung oil which takes months to dry).
I like it as it will seal the pores of the wood but not leave a heavy coating on the body. As people handle it repeatedly the finish is worn thru and if you put a heavy coating of finish on it, it will soon look like a car with the clear coat wearing off, patchy and obviously in need of a new paint job.
With the polyurethane it doesn't look like that, just looks dry and that's when a nice coating of wax, such as Howards will restore it back to its old look again.
Ok, back to work, got a few dozen bottles to make, arrrr
