Where in Italy did you visit? Our land is just a beautiful place to live in, as long as you can get around the few problems we have here (politics, burocracy, customs when you order from Red Sky mods, etc...). It's all a shame as we really have many things going for us, don't ever forget that much of the western way of thinking has been influenced by ancient Rome and Greece...
I love you Americans guys too, I just don't think that your government has been representing you as well as you deserve in the past few decades.

The only blue county in Texas!
I agree with the government comment. Sheesh. We have not been well led in recent past years.

My dad was in the Army and stationed in Germany so we went to Italy many times. One favorite place was a walled in city by a lake. I can't remember the name but it was my parents favorite place to visit. I'll have to ask my parents the name of the city. Here is one thing Americans can not do as well as Italians. Make pizza. I sure miss real Italian (and German) food!

Is it possible that the city you visited is Malcesine, on the banks of the Garda lake (Verona province)???

Oh, yes, Italians and other Europeans made so much possible for all Westerners. Europe is so rich with history. The U.S. is still so young. It is awe inspiring to stand in front of a building in Europe that is older than your country. If I could live in Europe, I would.

I sent an email to my dad to find out the name of the city. I was about 12 years old and the main thing I remember was a lovely ice cream shop with fresh waffle cones and a homemade strawberry sauce. LOL - I guess a kid would remember the ice cream! Also, it had cobblestone streets. That doesn't really narrow it down.

Awww, lets tell him the truth ...

In America, every Wednesday when you leave home, you pick one card from a deck of 52 playing cards. During the day if you see someone you think is pretty or interesting, you flash your card at them. If they happen to have picked the same card when they show you theirs they have to sleep with you that night.

Hence the saying "Show me yours and I will show you mine"

It's an old custom but it makes the middle of the week more fun.

ARRRR!

European history is also American history. Altough you are now very much a country with its own identity and independency, it should not be forgotten that the vast majority of the people living in North America are of European origins. I much hope that one day we'll be able to look away from boundaries and from where a person was conceived and brought up, to discover we all share a global history and a universal family. I have a dream...
