I started vaping in February of last year. I started at the 16/18mg level and had no intention of lowering my nicotine level. A few months after starting vaping I started DIYing my juice and soon settled into an all-day-vape of 16mg/mL peppermint.

Then last year around this time, I noticed that I was getting a bit nauseous and a slight headache in the evenings after vaping. For my next batch of juice I reduced the nic level to 12mg and was feeling fine after that. No nic cravings with the reduction and have been vaping 12mg since then.
Now I've started getting those 'over nicced' feelings again. I have some 0mg peppermint that I made with my last batch that I've been adding to my tank in the evening. So, I guess my next batch of juice will most likely be 6 or 8mg.

Has anyone else found themselves reducing nic levels due to getting over nicced by vaping your normal nic level juice?

Sometimes when I'm sitting at the computer at night I'll get hit with a sudden wave of nausea, headache and sweating. I know it's from too much nicotine. I'll switch from 18mg to 12mg for awhile and it passes. I should probably stick with 12mg when it's time to reorder.

HEY... BTW, before I moved over to NJ I lived on 22nd street, right by Crozer

I started getting the headaches in the evenings. Someone said it was not having enough liquids. I did not believe that but I found it to be true dehydration. I thought I was getting plenty of liquids but I hate to drink water by itself so I made a point to. I would have one glass tea and then one of water and my headaches went away. Since then I cut my tea intake in half. I was really amazed since I have never had headaches in my life. It took three days and they were gone and my nic level is the same.

I have been using 24-33 mg/ml diy for awhile now (never purchased vendor juice less than 24mg/ml) and I believe I'm experiencing a similar phenomenon but not sure . I' don't have headaches but having a hard time sleeping . What I'm trying to decipher is if I'm becoming sensitized to my relatively high nic level or if ,since going to RBAs , maybe I'm getting better atomization of the nic from my juice.

Obviously , I'm going to drop my nic level on my next diy batch and see if that helps. My question to you TomCatt is have you changed your preferred juice delivery method in the time this increased nic sensitization has occurred ?

Thank you for providing your experience .

Last year when I dropped my nic I hadn't changed anything. I have been getting into RBAs this past month; but it's only the past 2 or 3 days that I've been feeling that I may be getting over nicced.

Most days I vape throughout the day. There isn't really a time of day that I vape more than another; but that is something to be aware of.

I started at 24mg back in May using cartos then CE4's then carto tanks. Never seemed to be that much nic for me back then, but I did get headaches and nauseous. I was looking for that nic head rush I used to get if I hadn't had a cigarette in a couple of hours(but never found it).

Having just had my gall bladder removed a few months beforehand, and starting medication for my blood pressure, I didn't realize the nausea and headaches were from being over nic'd.

When I started using the CE3's and then a Genesis atty, I was fine using 18 then 12 and now mostly 6 or 8mg juice.

I also have gotten pickier about the flavors and look for more VG in my juice because I enjoy lots of vapor.

I think it tends to happen pretty much automatically. I started with 24mg juices and found out very fast it's too much for me so I dropped down to 16mg. Now with my own DIY cookings I started first doing 12mg juices and I'm now (after 2 months) vaping 8-10mg stuff. Another thing that helps is I have an extra PV loaded with 0mg juice that I can chain-vape. Just few puffs of stronger juice every now and then is enough. This way I'm actually lowering my tolerance for nicotine without even noticing it.

Yes, vaping's turning us into wimps :) I ran 24 mg for about 8 months, dropped to 20 after going VV (when I doubled my ml/day), last Fall started slow drop, 1 - 2mg every couple weeks. I stabilized at 10 mg/ml, but will likely drop a couple more soon.

I didn't notice physical issues, it was more of a "why not?" since I DIY and it's easy to nudge down slowly.

Since starting vaping I've cut my weekday coffee consumption down a lot, since I can vape at work. I look at that as a positive trade. Since cutting my nic, even though I will tend to vape a lot when I can I can go hours when not vaping if the situation requires it -- much easier than back in the smoking days, particularly with all the "extra" addictive attributes of cigs.

I just recently had to drop my nic, I had been vaping 24 mg and was starting to notice an issue and was already working on cutting it back to 18 when I got my first genesis styled, I was warned at the time not to chain vape 24 with it. At the same time I ordered some juice to try, there was a mix up and 12 mg was sent instead of 18. I actually got a head rush from the 12mg in a genesis.

i try to think of it like this... I used to smoke a pack a day of reds. That's about 21-24 mg nicotine spread out all day. I vape about 3 ml a day . if i vaped 24mg/ml that's the nicotine equivalent of 3 packs. I started vaping 24 mg and quickly realized it was too much for me. Dropped to 15 and now i diy my base to 10. After I add flavors it finishes about 9 or so. that way if I chain vape I'm still not getting more than 45mg (in 5 ml) in a day.

I've found that at night when I want to vape alot and relax, I use a lower nic. I'm vaping more for relaxation and enjoyment and not necessarily for a nic fix. I recommend different nic levels for different times of the day and what your needs are at the moment. I've vaped about 1 1/2 yrs and I tend to use mostly 12 mgs nic, but sometimes 16 and other times 8.

Yup, I agree with evahbody above! From 24mg, after 3 or 4 months, my body started demanding that I cut the nic, because I was unable to sleep at night. Lower nic solved that problem. Today is my ONE YEAR anniversary analog FREE, and I'm down to 6mg (sometimes higher). For me, the reduction was involuntary.

Heya Catt.

I also had to drop my nic levels. i needed 24 mg to switch completely to vaping. After about a year, that level triggered anxiety, and i slowly had to decrease my nic levels. I'm at 8 right now, but using 4 mg/ml at times (when I'm home all day, or right before bed).

My liquid use increased slightly, but that may also be a function of using more watts and vaporizing the liquid faster. (I started at 3.7V and 3 ohm cartos, and now use 3.7 to 4.2 V with 1.8-2.0 cartos/atties)

Congrats on your first year smoke free MikenGA!!

I did the same thing. I was at 6mg for over a year and had to switch to 4mg. A month later I was getting dizzy again so I cut to 2mg. After that I thought whats the point and just started using 0. I really wish I could go back to 6mg because there are some liquids that don't come in 0. Six mos later I thought I had given up vaping. I had not bought any supplies for months or touched any equipment and I got all stressed a month ago and bought a pack of smokes. Yuck, so 3 Vslims later I decided to drag out the old Blu then the ego but still 0 nic so yay. I tried the 4mg made me dizzy again but i can smoke a cigarette and be ok. I think I will stay at my 0 and make nice clouds and keep my brain happy.

That's actually a great idea! When I drive, or when I am sitting watching TV (read:football) I tend to chain vape, and even with 12mg nic, it seems to be a bit much.

Gotta get me some 0mg chain vaping juice!!!
