I took out one of my 120ml. bottles of nicotine for mixing, but I only want to take 30mls. out of the bottle. Can I refreeze the nicotine after taking some out of the bottle? I don't mix a lot, and don't need that much out at a time. It's VG based and letting it thaw before taking some out because it's so thick and need to be able to shake it up. It's going to leave air space in the bottle and whether I refreeze it or not, it's going to a while before using it up and would rather have it back in the freezer.

It will always benefit you to keep your nic cold, even in a half full bottle. The additional oxygen introduced by taking a portion out will produce more oxidation, but the cold should help offset it. Based on the tests I've seen, keeping it cold may be more important than light and even oxygen, as the chemical reactions are slowed down. Good decision!

Well I ended up refreezing after I took what I needed. I figured it would be better off sitting in there than in my drawer. It will be months or more before I need some again.
That's what I do! I do thaw mine in the fridge and then get what I need out. I do use electric tape to rewrap the lid and back in the freezer it goes.

I do not freeze my nicotine and do not even re-bottle it. I keep it in a cool basement out of direct sunlight and have never had a problem with nicotine being stored in the white plastic bottle it came in. It is stored in a cardboard box which also protects it from sunlight.

Freezing is the best method for preserving nicotine freshness for long term storage.....Just my opinion.

Well, you know, the majority of DIYers seem to agree with you from the many posts and threads about it. Kurt shares the same "opinion", too, and his is supported by an extensive background in Chemistry, with lots of scientifically proven results gained through testing the long-term storage of nicotine.

However, as the old saying goes - You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Just like many other things with DIY, people have varied opinions about long-term nic storage. Many of us just personally choose to place greater value on the opinions of those who have much more experience with something than we have ourselves.

Very nicely said.

And is why Kurts opinion on NIC long term storage is stickied to the top of the forum.

We all learn by experience. For a liter of nic that's going to last more than two years, freezing is the smart choice. Mine was projected to last 9 years per liter, but actual consumption over time measured on the bottle in use versus the liquid depth in a new bottle shows that I'll get about 6.5 years per liter instead of 9. That would take me to 2030.

Mine's going into the freezer soon. I just got the huge 100ml syringes and long 14ga needles to use in transferring my 75pg 100mg/ml nic base to 8oz brown bottles.
