I had the variable voltage Sabre touch, and it's definitely not regulated. It's a good unit, don't get me wrong... but it doesn't provide a consistent vape imo.

I have had it only a short time, but seem to get the same reading on the multimeter after using it for awhile. Also I probably wouldn't notice it anyway because I run it so hot (12-14w) that a little drop of doesn't make much of a difference.

Hehe yeah, I know I'm picky, but I don't want 5v or a box mod. I think Lavatube it my best bet.

The Lavatube is great, since I received mine it is all I use while out and about. I use my Reo and Icon at home to drip with but when I am on the go it is 4 volts on a SmokTech DCT.

A bit of an oddity of the Lavatube though is that the under-load voltage does drop as it discharges throughout the day. I would highly suggest you get AW IMR 18650's instead of using the stock generic batts included in the kit. I consider them "mystery batteries" because I doubt they are even IMR.

If you want the Darwin experience without the darwin, pick up a mod like the Caliber, Silver Bullet, The Omega (really any kind of all metal mod), some 18500's and the Kick from Evolv. Though not perfect for high res atties and cartos, it is the Darwin experience for standard resistance hardware at least.

That is indicative of the price and quality/efficiency of the regulator. There should be no sag in a regulated device. That being said DCTs place a hell of a demand on regulators.

Although not good for the battery and folks don't like the eGo regulation, an eGo will deliver 3.3V regardless of the load from start to finish. Something to think about.

Yep, the PWM of an eGo is awesome, but I find the DCT doesn't reach the same warmth of a standard Dual Coil Smoktech carto on the eGo. Since I learned that the Lavatube has an under-load testing function (7 clicks on the power button, hold the activation switch and tap the power button again) I have discovered that the stock atties that come with the LT will only run at 3.7 v, where DCT's can run at 3.9-4 v on a fresh charge. I was highly surprised and I hypothesize that it is the batteries that come with the device that are to blame but you know more than I do about the innards of regulated/VV devices.

That's not an under load test. It shows you what the batter is putting out, not what volts are at the atty

Ah I see, now this makes sense. Why they would need a "Battery Under Load" test I don't know. I just googled it to see if you were right and it appears so.

Now I need to build an under-load tester

The Provari is just as expensive as the Darwin. The Darwin, IMO, is the best regulated and only variable watt model on the market.

I don't know how much this new VV model goes for, but it sure is sweet looking. I understand the guy is an ECF member and takes orders individually. The price might be quite good, but I don't really know:

I cheaped out and got one from madvapes. Comes in handy once every month to test something.
