is the black one powdercoated, painted or plastidipped? Looks killer!

It's painted. I sanded the cap with 1200 grit sandpaper, applied two coats of Krylon BBQ paint and let it bake in a warm oven for a few hours.

It's not bulletproof, but it's held up pretty darn well. Zero chips or scratches after a few weeks of use. If need be, I can strip the paint with some acetone and repaint.

It is a Molehill Mountain tip. I'm not really sure of the design. I first thought it looked like a big beetle on one side. Now I'm thinking it might just be a leaf.

And yes, that is a massive zucchini ;)

Master of Bassets...and not much else.
Yeah my first thought was it was a beetle or bug of some sort. I love zucchini and squash! Grilled, sauteed, steamed any way I'll eat it! Although that thing could feed a family for winter lol.

Ralph's looking sharp with his new brass RM2. Rob does such awesome work.

That is the perfect fit, Mike.

Could one not just spray paint it after sanding? Love those monochromatics and the black RM2 fits there perfectly.

My second-hand O.G. Tumbled Raw Mini arrived today.

Thanks to the one and only Pesky Human (Christian) for hooking a brutha up.

I think I may need a Black Wrinkle VV to round out the monochromatic family.

One love, homie! Use it in good health.

I am so jacking the BBQ paint style on my RM for my black wrinkle.

Darth Vapor, son.

Did you just go straight onto the chrome or did you sand it down first. I am guessing the latter.

Seriously though, the black on black on black is going to look like a weapon. Great photo!

....aaaaaaaand just read this. Did you go all the way to brass before painting? With 1200 I would imagine that would take forever if so. 1200 wouldn't roughen it up too much. More of a polishing grit on metal in my experience. It could get through the plating, but it would take some patience.

I believe it was called Purple Leaf acrylic overlayed on Ebony wood. Seemed to match the Ebony and I felt it did :)
Btw , Mike, thanks for the coils and can't wait to try your DIY . :)
Debbie

Looks killer :)

(cough)

Dear Mr. O'Neil,

isn't it a tad late for you? Shouldn't you be resting your weary, weary, oh so weary limbs and eyes, the better to complete all those Woodvils longing for adoption?

Especially that special fire opal - looking one that may actually rival Gil's Tesla in sheer beauty??? (you know-- the one that you secretly desire to give to a very, very,
very special person?)

(cough)

Time to slumber, time to slumber...

... and fulfill your dreams of delivering Woodvils to a certain enchanted spot along the river in Sacramento, CA....

Love it! Any idea when that was originally posted? Little did Rob probably know at that time just how much his business would grow! Thank God for him - I would not be where I am today without him. Probably 6 foot under literally!

Hi reoville...

I've been down memory lane and thought I'd post this, one of the posts from the very first Reo lounge thread:

Gotta go help a friend do some stuff now....

that's Rob playing his guitar in the background.
